【Secret promise】|Chapter Four

"You must promise me this....,(NAME)."

"Of course."

"You must....."

The voice they heard speaking with her was drowned out.Another familiar face showed up and was blurred,so was (NAME)'s wavering vision.Struggling to breathe (NAME) held onto the pair of hands that were latched around her neck.(NAME) tried to speak out with all the power they had left,

"I love you."

(NAME) was woken up breathing heavily holding one side of their face with one hand.Sweat rolled down their body as they continued to catch their breathe.They threw themselves out of the sheets and walked towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water.(NAME) took a seat in front of the mesmerising view out of the large windows that barricaded them in.The view that was presented was by far the most beautiful (NAME) had noted mentally with a long sigh after becoming much more calm.(NAME) checked their mobile phone,2:43 am.They had only gotten 4 hours of sleep and was now ready to go back to sleep which was what exactly they did.

After around 5 more hours of sleep it was now 7:57 am.(NAME) got ready to get out of the house and was headed towards the hospital and had passed their favourite cafe in the process.A certain someone had caught sight of them.After a few minutes they were able to visit the person they wanted to see most.

Exhausted (NAME) greeted the person in bed,"Hey,I'm back.Missed me?~"They said with a smile and took a seat beside the patient.

"Have you done it yet?"

"That's what you greet me with?"(NAME) let out a laugh.

They let out a soft chuckle before replying with a smile,"Sorry,(NAME),welcome back.I missed you is what i would say but..i should not say that so easily anymore...You know why."

"Right...Yeah,sorry..I just wanted to see you.Things are tough."(NAME) shrugged.

"I know..,but you're strong.I know you can overcome any difficulty you face,I believe in you."

"You say it like its the easiest thing in the world..."(NAME) frowned before turning away.

"I know it's hard.Everyone knows it's hard.I want you to try and make it easy for yourself. I've said this many times.Make the choices you think are right because the outcome can not always be expected."

"Woah~Such a wise wizard we've got in this room."

"I'll take that as a compliment and not something very sarcastic.Thank you,(NAME)."

"Gah...How do you always manage to remain so nice no matter what i say?Even if i say i hate you,all you would do is smile and make me feel like an idiot.."

"Haha that's right,because if you smile it would bring anyone happiness.Try it out.Smile at someone,they are more than likely to smile back."

"Yeah...that won't work for me."

"How would you know?"They asked cocking a brow at (NAME).

"You're a happy go lucky type of person...despite of what you''re going through.."

"That's exactly a point I've been trying to make for a long time."

"What?Really?Because Iv'e got no idea what you've been trying to say all this time except that promise you made me make."

They sighed before speaking,"Seriously..What Iv'e been trying to say is that despite of what you've been through or are going through you should always smile and be happy."

"Isn't that just...hiding you're true feelings?"

"Not necessarily,no.You could live a good life after your actions change but you can't live a good life if you don't change how you act to be a good person.To cut to the chase,there has to be some change to make progress.In our case,we need to change ourselves but not completely.It's not hiding what you're truly feeling because by changing how you react to certain things your feelings will also change.The most important thing is that your feelings and actions can not be fake.If it's fake,It's not you that wants to change to live a good life its you who wants to remain the same and continue living with a goal of a good life without progress.So make the most of the life you've got because you won't get another one."

"How would you know that?Heard of reincarnation?"

"Well,i'm not that far away from finding out."They said with a bright smile.

"Don't say that with such a happy face..."

"Why not?I've lived a good life and i'm sure I've been a good person.Haven't i,(NAME)?"

"I'm not ready to say good bye."(NAME) looked down at their feet as tears rolled down their face."Not yet."

"..."

"I want more time.Is my wish that hard to grant?"

"I'm afraid i can't grant that sort of wish. We've all got limits when is comes to life.Extending the time so we don't reach that limit is simply not possible because it's like a timer on a bomb that no one can stop.Once it goes off there is no coming back.It's gone.That's what will happen to me.Even if i were to be reincarnated,i would not be the same.I can never be the same.You do understand that,right,(NAME)?"

"If you leave...don't you ever think of what would happen to people you know?Like me.You can't control other people's minds and emotions."

"...I'm aware of that.Even so,I want you to know that although nothing but the things i have complete control over can be altered...I want you to know that i may not physically be here with you but just know that my soul will always remain beside you...I need you to keep this in mind,however,if you want to remember anything iv'e said or not is up to you.Do know what my wish is,(NAME)?"

"Yes."

"I'm glad you've chosen to remember at least that."

"...But..why would you want that?It won't help you or anything..."

"Nothing can be done to help my physical state at this point.I'm almost immobile and very soon i won't be able to talk like this with you.I'm slowly losing myself as time passes on.I'm lucky to even be alive right now.I would have been dead a long time ago."

"What is happening to you anyways?Can i ask the doctors?"(NAME) asked with a concerned expression spreading across their face.

"I'm sorry but they don't know what the problem with me is.All that i know is that my body is slowly being taken over by an unknown illness and will ultimately end up killing me in the process.I don't have much time."

"It can't be...!"

"I will apologise in advance."

"Please...don't.."

"I'm dearly sorry,(NAME).I hope you can find somewhere in your heart of warmth to forgive someone as pitiful as me.I wouldn't be here talking to you if you hadn't met me.I'm slowly transforming into a monster i was more afraid of than what i already am.It's alright if you hate me.It's alright if you can't forgive me.I understand."Hugging (NAME) they finished off with two last words before it was time for (NAME) to go home.

"Thank you."

After that,(NAME) had got home and slid down the closed door with their back as tears stream down their face.

"God dammit...GOD DAMMIT ALL!!"They shouted out in frustration which was followed by their cries of agony.

A message flickered on the screen of their mobile phone,

[I'm sorry,(NAME).Thank you for helping me change who i was to who i am now.My soul will always stay with  you until the end,I promise.So please,don't cry.]
