Today was the day Emily was finally starting her first day at Wood Creek High School. She woke up at 6:00am so she could get an early and fresh start. She grabbed a clean outfit and ran into the bathroom to take a shower. She turned on the faucet which made a loud and creeky noise, her new house was very old and worn down, but it's all that her family could afford. The water hit her back and she let out a small screech because the water was very hot. The hot and cold switch was broken and the water was burning her so she decided to freshen up as best she could without taking a shower. She combed through her thick, curly, and brown hair with purple tips at the bottom. She scrubbed her teeth and put on a bit of makeup. She Ran downstairs and her mother was waiting for her with freshly cooked breakfast.
"Mmmm... Bacon and eggs, my favorite!" Emily exclaimed to her mother.
"I wanted to make your favorite so you could start off with a good day." replied her mother.
Emily was stuffing her face with the very delicious home-made breakfast her mother had cooked.
"Thank you mom, it was really good." said Emily.
"You're welcome sweetheart. I'm glad you liked it." Her mother said.
"Hey, I think the shower faucet in the bathroom upstairs is broken."
"Oh? Why do you say that?"
"I was trying to take a shower but when I was changing the dial to cold from hot, the water kept getting hotter and it was burning me."
"Thank you for telling me, I'll be sure to contact the landlord."
"Hey it's almost 7:30 we should get going."
"Alright, I'll go ahead and start the car. Pack up your things and meet me outside."
Emily ran upstairs into her bedroom and packed all of her things. She made sure everything in her bag was nice and organized. She packed pencils, paper, binders, folders, books, and a calendar for the year. She ran back downstairs and darted into the garage. She quickly put on her purple and white converse sneakers, but out of the corner of her eye she saw her mother rapidly waving at her to get in the car because they were going to be late. She jumped into the car and threw her bag into the back seat. They started down their unfamiliar and new street she hadn't seen since she first moved here.
"Hey mom, do you mind if I play some of my own music?" Asked Emily
  "Sure thing sugar."
She plugged her phone into the headphone Jack connecting to her car stereo and played some of her favorite music that reminded her of her old home in Germany. She looked out the window to see a completey different landscape than what she was used to. This made her think about her old life in Germany how there were hills here and there, it was constantly cold, and the buildings were very different from where she was living in North Carolina. She never forgets how the air conditioner was always right above her face when she went to sleep and blowing a nice cool air through her body, she also remembers waking up to a beautiful sunrise in the window to her right. There was also one stair that would always squeak when she went down the staircase. She had been daydreaming so long that by the time she stopped, she had finally arrived at school.
"Alright pumpkin, we're here now." Emily's mother said.
"Already? I was caught up thinking about our old home in Germany."
"Awe Emily. I miss it there too but we had to move. Your father's job had to move countries and if we didn't move we wouldn't have any money. Your father works very hard for us to live a good life, you need to appreciate him."
"I do appreciate him and I don't really mind that we moved. I just miss my friends, our home, and our city."
"I'm sorry, I'm sure you'll get used to it here."
"Ok, well I have to go. Love you mom."
"I love you too. Have a good day! Good luck! Don't forget to pick up your schedule at the front desk!"
   "I won't! Bye mom."
   "Bye sweetie."
Emily got out of the car and headed into the school. She was nervous but she had to give it a try.
