Hitch had had another drink, despite Mikasa's protests.
"I am a functioning adult, I do what I want." Hitch said as she downed another bottle.
"Ackerman," Annie's cold tone pierced through the commotion around. She had a beer in hand as well as an electronic cigarette. "I see Hitch has already started drinking."
"I see you smoke," Mikasa replied.
"Bah, it's not that big of a deal." Annie said, waving her hand as if to brush off the comment.
"You also drink."
"Yes, we all need to," Her voice was filled with sarcasm.
"You know what I mean." Mikasa said.
"I'm no Hitch or Mina when it comes to drinking." Annie said. She then pulled a giggling Mina forwards. "She chugged an entire bottle of wine."
"Hiya Mikasa~" Mina hiccuped.
Calling her tipsy would be an understatement.
Mikasa couldn't place her finger on a word to describe her.
"Am I going to need to drive home?" She sighed.
"Maybe, I might be alright enough to drive, I can handle my alcohol well enough." Annie said.
"If you are even slightly dizzy, I'm driving," Mikasa said adamantly.
Annie turned away to talk with Mina, thought it seemed to be a lost cause if she was looking for an intelligible conversation with a drunk Mina.
"Mikasa~" Hitch said. "Let's go dance again!"
If it weren't for the pulsating lights, Mikasa would've felt sure that she saw Annie smirk.
She was pulled away and the last glance she got of Annie and Mina was the closing gap between their lips.
"Ah! I love this song!" Hitch said.
Mikasa didn't recognize the song.
Heeey heeeey heeeeey
Your lipstick stains on the front lobe of my left side brains
I knew I wouldn't forget you
And so I went and let you blow my mind
Your sweet moonbeam
The smell of you in every single dream I dream
I knew when we collided you're the one I have decided
Who's one of my kind
Hitch was leading the dance.
It was a drunken totter more.
This wasn't even a song to dance to, more of a song to sing along with.
Hey soul sister, ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight
Heeey heeeey heeeey
Just in time, I'm so glad you have a one track mind like me
You gave my life direction
A game show love connection, we can't deny-y-y-y-y-y-y
I'm so obsessed
My heart is bound to beat right out my untrimmed chest
I believe in you, like a virgin, you're Madonna
And I'm always gonna wanna blow your mind
Hey soul sister, ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight
Way you can cut a rug
Watching you's the only drug I need
So gangster, I'm so thug
You're the only one I'm dreaming of
You see I can be myself now finally
In fact there's nothing I can't be
I want the world to see you'll be with me
Hey soul sister, ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight
Heeey heeeey heeeeey (tonight)
Heeey heeeey heeeeey (tonight)
Mikasa was glad the song was over.
"I think I'm done dancing, as are you." She told Hitch.
"I'm fine!"
"You are drunk, that is not fine. We aren't going to dance anymore, you aren't going to drink anymore." Mikasa pulled Hitch away from the bar and the dance floor to a sitting area with couches and chairs.
There was a game of spin the bottle being played.
As well as Monopoly.
If Mikasa had to guess, she would say that half the people were drunk, the other half were sober and all of them were having broken friendships over the Monopoly game.
She sat down on the couch, but immediately stood up, someone had spilled some liquid and she immediately stood, it was on the palm of her hand.
Mikasa cautiously wiped it off on the couch.
She and Hitch sat on the ground, joining a game of spin the bottle.
"Whoever this spin lands on, has to kiss the person to their right." A seemingly sophomore said.
"Of course," Mikasa muttered, and made sure that Hitch was on her right, just so she wouldn't have to kiss a stranger.
Hitch started to question it but the Asian silenced it with a glare.
The bottle was spun and spun three times before landing on Mikasa the fourth spin.
"So a kiss on the cheek or lips?" She asked Hitch, knowing it was pointless.
Hitch replied with something unintelligible.
Mustering up her courage and tossing aside her dignity, Mikasa kissed Hitch on the lips.
"Didn't know you swung that way," a cold voice said.
She pulled herself out of the kiss, praying that it wasn't who she thought it was.
Annie stood to Mikasa's left, keeping a firm grasp on Mina's arm.
She seemed to be sneering, though it was hard to tell with the flat tone.
"I wasn't about to kiss a stranger," Mikasa replied, her eyes narrowing.
"Well of course you weren't, here, I've got an idea." Annie said.
As she watched Annie, Mikasa realized that she seemed out of it.
"Annie..?"
"I'm fine!" She insisted.
"Are you really?" Mikasa asked.
"Yes!" Her roommate placed her hands on her hips.
"Maybe you need a drag from your cigarette?"
"Right, right," she rifled through her pockets.
"We've been here for a while," Mikasa said, looking at her iPhone.
"Nonsense, those guys are halfway done the Monopoly game." Annie said.
"Monopoly games take hours to finish." The Asian grabbed Hitch by the wrist to prevent her from wandering off.
Annie had her electronic cigarette between her lips and was taking a drag.
"Alright, fine you want to go?" There was a sudden change in her tone of voice. "We'll go, once you have a dance with me."
"Huh?"
"You heard me Ackerman, let our drunken friends keep each other company."
It struck Mikasa as odd how Annie didn't call Mina her girlfriend.
"Hitch, stay with Mina." She told her drunken friend. "And Mina, stay with Hitch."
"Righty-o Mikasa~" Hitch giggled.
Mina stumbled towards Hitch and they sat down on one of the couches.
Annie brought Mikasa out to the dance floor.
"Dance with me," the blonde was swaying to the music.
"Alright people," Marco's voice said from the stage. "We're playing a slow song now, get ready."
"You knew that this was gonna be a slow song." Mikasa whispered to Annie.
"Not a clue, Ackerman." At least Annie had the mind to act sober when drunk.
A whistling tune came on over the speakers.
Mikasa knew this song.
The roommates began to dance to the tune, it was more of a slow sway while holding onto one another's hips.
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring
Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
I'll never forget
The moment we kissed
The night of the hay ride
The way that we hugged
To try to keep warm
While taking a sleigh ride
Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring
"Time can't erase the memory of
These magic moments filled with love," Mikasa sung with the song.
The telephone call
That tied up the line
For hours and hours
The Saturday dance
I got up the nerve
To send you some flowers
Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring
Time can't erase the memory of
These magic moments filled with love
Annie drew Mikasa close, her grasp like iron.
"Mikasa," she said.
This surprised Mikasa, she wasn't using her surname.
"What?"
"Keep singing." She lay her head on Mikasa's chest.
This is the drinks talking Mikasa, don't get like that. She scolded herself as her heart rate increased.
The way that we cheered
Whenever our team
Was scoring a touchdown
The time that the
Floor fell out of my car
When I put the clutch down
The penny arcade
The games that we played
The fun and the prizes
The Halloween hop
When everyone came
In funny disguises
Magic moments filled with love
Annie looked up at Mikasa.
"Mikasa,"
"Yes?"
"Kiss me like you did with Hitch." Annie said.
"What? That was only for playing the spin the bottle..." Mikasa laughed nervously. "Besides, you and Mina are dating,"
"She doesn't have to know." Annie leaned in closer and closer, Mikasa felt paralyzed, her mind racing a mile a minute, not wanting to hurt Annie, but not wanting to kiss her either.
Their lips made contact.
Mikasa felt her muscles gain the ability to move again.
She pushed Annie back.
"No, Annie, we're going. Now." The Asian grabbed her friend's wrist, went over to find Hitch and Mina, and Reiner and Bertolt.
It was all a blur.
She couldn't remember finding them, all she could recall was dragging her drunk friends with the help of miraculously sober Reiner and Bertolt.
The cool air woke her up and she took the truck keys from Annie and got in front, Reiner sat next to her to give her directions. Bertolt watched over the drunken girls.
It seemed almost like a miracle but they made it back in one piece.
There were several incidents that greatly annoyed Mikasa.
Including a driver swerving in front of her.
"Go fuck yourself!" She yelled as she passed by them.
The person, in response, flipped her off.
"Mikasa!" Reiner had said. "Don't miss the turn!"
She muttered something under her breath too quiet to be heard.
As they walked onto campus and to the dorm rooms, she was supporting Annie.
Her roommate was insisting she was fine.
They finally got to their dorm room.
Mikasa put Annie on her bed.
"If you need anything, or are severely sick, wake me up." She said.
She wasn't sure if Annie even listened or if she was fully here to hear.
Mikasa stripped into her under garments, put some sweatpants on overtop and lay in bed, unable to block the thought of Annie's kiss out of her mind.
"Why the hell did you kiss me?" She asked quietly.
