It was a month or two into the new friendship and school year.
Mikasa and Annie were pouring over notes, college was in full throttle, sure they were majoring in the athletics, but they still had to take the required classes.
"Ackerman," Annie said, looking towards her roommate.
"Yeah?" She replied, glancing up from her five page paper.
"There's a party tonight,"
"Mhm, and?"
"Well, I was wondering if you'd like to be my plus one, now that we're... kinda friends..."
"Hmm... sure, I'm almost finished my essay anyhow." Mikasa said, closing her laptop.
"Good, it's in two hours. Get ready soon." Annie said.
Mikasa choked a little on her water, nearly spitting it out.
"What?! You tell me two hours before the party that there's a party?"
"Yup."
"Anyone we know going to be there?" She asked, wiping her mouth.
"Hitch, Mina, Reiner and Bertolt, those are the two guys I hang out with." Annie said, counting them on her fingers. "I hope you aren't shy to some alcohol, cause there's wine and beer there, as well as smokers and the such."
"Alcohol and beer are fine," Mikasa said. "Smokers and druggies though? Not really my cup of tea, but I'll deal with it."
"Good."
A half out before the party they got dressed.
Mikasa wore a vest overtop of a dress shirt and a skirt that came down to above her knees.
Annie had let her hair down a little, it was a ponytail rather than a bun. She was dressed in a full suit and tie, though she didn't have a blazer.
Within another hour they were leaving.
But what Annie didn't mention was that they were going with her friends.
Annie owned a pickup truck with the back area meant for anything but people.
So while driving over, Mikasa found herself with Hitch in the back.
They had to duck every now and again when they thought they saw a cop car.
"Damn it," Hitch had said when they got in the back. "I thought I was promoted to the front."
In the front was Annie, who was driving, Mina Carolina in shotgun, Bertolt Fubar and Reiner Braun in the backseats.
"I'd prefer a car from the 50s, at least it could fit six people." Mikasa grumbled.
It took fifteen minutes to get to the place where the party was.
It was at a rather large looking house.
"Whoa..." Hitch's jaw dropped.
"Dear god..." Mikasa said. "Who the hell owns the place?"
"Well, it's a rich kid's place." Annie said, peering out the window.
"No shit, who though?"
"A very nice kid's father, the kid's name is Marco Bott. He's a sophomore at our school, he's dating some guy from elsewhere." Annie said, getting out of the pickup.
The others followed her out.
"I want the guys to sit in the back next time, Hitch and I should get in the backseat." Mikasa said.
"Fine by us," Bertolt and Reiner said.
"Hell yeah!" Hitch said.
"Come on." Annie said, she was already halfway up the driveway.
"She treats all her friends like this?" Mikasa said, seeming a little annoyed.
"Anyone and everyone." Mina sighed. "Even her girlfriend." She put emphasis on the word.
A month ago, Mikasa had caught Mina kissing Annie, no it wasn't a kiss, it was a full blown make out session.
Mina and Annie were twisting around each other, deepening the kiss.
Mina's pigtails had come off.
Annie's bun was frayed.
She had quickly closed the door and a red blush appeared on her cheeks.
Annie never brought it up, nor had Mina, Mikasa was fine with it that way.
She wasn't homophobic, it was a known fact Ymir and Historia had been dating a while.
Mikasa had had feelings for her adoptive brother Eren for a while, she always considered herself straight, but by the end of senior year of high-school she was calling herself bicurious.
She lightly shook her head, clearing her thoughts.
Mina's lips had moved, but Mikasa hadn't heard the words.
"Sorry?" She said.
"I was wondering why you were staring into space." Mina leaned close, hands on her hips.
"I'm sorry, it just happens sometimes." Mikasa said.
Mina waved a hand.
"Goddammit, stop talking and move your asses!" Annie said.
Mikasa hadn't been to too terribly many parties in her high school career, but college parties far outstripped the ones she had been to.
Though, it might've just been this one.
Her eyes widened as she stepped through the door.
"Holy shit," she muttered.
"Hello," a guy dressed in a tux that must've been Marco Bott. "Welcome to the party." He smiled at them as they entered.
They milled about.
Mina pulled Annie away and they disappeared in the crowd.
Reiner and Bertolt had gone off.
Marco was on the upper level and announced the party's start.
Music was playing, people were chattering, walking or dancing.
"Dammit," Hitch said. "I wore this dress to impress the guys, but none seem to be looking my way." Her green and silver dress was low cut, like Mikasa's skirt, but somehow it seemed shorter, though the Asian was pretty sure it was the same length. The top didn't have any straps, which drew attention to her cleavage.
"Maybe they're all taken?" She suggested with a shrug. "Or very polite not to be staring at your cleavage."
Hitch puffed out her cheeks.
"Oh well, who needs 'em?" She said. "So Mikasa," her tone of voice changed so suddenly that she thought someone else was talking. "What do you think?" And she promptly puffed out her chest, startling Mikasa as she stared at it.
"Hitch..." The Asian sighed. "It looks fine, you'll find a guy later."
Immediately Hitch brightened up.
"Awesome!" She said. "Let's go!" With this, she dragged Mikasa through the crowd and found a small bar, where another college student was serving the drinks.
"Hello, ladies," he said, as they sat down. "My name is Jean Kirstein, what would you like to drink?"
"Ah, what type of beer do you have?" Hitch asked.
Jean proceeded to list the drinks he had.
Hitch ordered one that was listed, Mikasa hadn't really been paying attention, she stared off into space over Hitch's head, only when Jean tapped her shoulder did she come back to reality.
"What?"
"What drink would you like?"
"Just, just give me a soda," Mikasa said. "A... a Sprite."
"Okay." If Jean was disappointed that she didn't order an alcoholic drink, it didn't show.
The others around her seemed a little disappointed.
"C'mon Mikasa," Hitch said.
"Don't even start, no I will not drink, one of us needs to be sober." She replied coldly, she turned to Jean. "Thanks for the drinks."
"Yeah, no problem, my boyfriend is running the party, might as well help out, you know?" Jean said merrily. He began to take other's orders.
When Mikasa looked back towards Hitch, she was downing her beer. About half was left in the bottle.
"Jesus, you drink quickly," She said, opening her bottle of Sprite and taking a swig.
It seemed Hitch was a lightweight, she already seemed to be experiencing some of the effects of the beer.
"Mikasa! We should dance!" She slammed her empty bottle down on the bar.
The Asian accepted her drunk friend's suggestion, thinking it'd be a wise choice to have a happy drunk Hitch rather than angry/sad drunk Hitch.
They went out to the dance floor.
Whatever song that was playing wasn't familiar to Mikasa.
It ended soon after they joined the dancers and was replaced by another.
Ooga-chaka, ooga-ooga
Ooga-chaka, ooga-ooga
Ooga-chaka, ooga-ooga
Ooga-chaka, ooga-ooga
Mikasa knew this song.
She loved older music, ranging from Perry Como to Billy Joel.
I can't stop this feeling
Deep inside of me
Girl, you just don't realize
What you do to me
She danced to the beat with drunken Hitch.
Mikasa even began to sing along.
When you hold me
In your arms so tight
You let me know
Everything's all right
I'm hooked on a feeling
I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me
Lips as sweet as candy
Its taste is on my mind
Girl, you got me thirsty
For another cup o' wine
Got a bug from you girl
But I don't need no cure
I'll just stay a victim
If I can for sure
All the good love
When we're all alone
Keep it up girl
Yeah, you turn me on
I'm hooked on a feeling
I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me
All the good love
When we're all alone
Keep it up girl
Yeah, you turn me on
I'm hooked on a feeling
I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me
I'm hooked on a feeling
And I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me
I said I'm hooked on a feeling
And I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me
I'm hooked on a feeling
Mikasa and Hitch finished the little dance with the Asian twirling her drunken friend and Hitch leaning back in her arms in a false faint.
