I heard a knock on my door.
"Jo! You've got to get out of there some time!"
I chuckled.
"No I don't!"
I flicked through my magazine."I'm coming in!"
"No you're not, I'm naked!"
"What, really?"Luca slammed open the door. Does it even lock?
"Don't you want to do something? Go somewhere?"
Luca proclaimed, attempting to persuade me.
"Yes, I would love to go home, back to my family, after all I'm supposed to be grieving."
"Why?"
"My father killed Mother and now I'm here."
"Sorry for your loss. They were good friends."
"Who?"
"My father, your mother, she even stayed here for a few months before her... well..."
I looked at him in confusion.
"Miscarriage."
I have never heard about this in my life. Mother never told. Nor did father.
"What miscarriage?
"Don't you know?"
"No."
"It was supposed to be a boy."Everything went awfully silent.
Luca left and I was left wondering. What if he was just full of it? What if he was just lying? My mind was all over the place.I looked out of my window, admiring the garden view of the musky afternoon. The birds were chirping and the cold breeze flushed my warm face.
Dmitri was strolling through the neatly cut bushes, in the foggy weather, probably in one of his gothic moods. He is the exact opposite of me, yet I can relate to him in some weird unfortunate way.Knowing that Luca is probably strolling back and forth in the hallway, I decided to exit to meet Dmitri through the window. Tying several bed sheets together, I eventually ran out after 4 duvet covers. This meant I had to jump the rest of the way. I hate heights.
I tied the last bed-sheet to one of my bed's legs and try to figure out how to climb out of the window without falling out completely.
Then I realised how freezing it was.
Putting on every layer of clothes that I had, I found a spare black coat in my wardrobe. Assuming it's Luca's. I made my first move by slowly manoeuvring myself out of the window and began to tightly pull the bed sheet rope.
As soon as I placed my body weight on that bed sheet I heard the bed slightly move and my heart slightly jump.
Lowering myself down, I became more fluent in my movements, of course until I reached the bottom, then I had a 4 metre drop. Thinking about it, it's not even twice my height.
The surface beneath was gravel and being the girl I am, I can assure you I wasn't the out doors-y type. No scraped knees in my childhood.Well, I counted to three. But when I got to two my hands slipped and I screamed and shut my eyes and why am I making this so dramatic?
I pictured my fragile body breaking into tiny pieces like a glass ornament.
"Jesus Christ."
Someone caught me, you'll never guess who.
"Dmitri?"
"Didn't think you were that stupid."
"What do you mean?"
"You have a door in your room that is used for exiting."
"But Luca was outside."
"And?"I guess he didn't really know about our feud.
"Well he's being a dick."
"Because he wants to sleep with you? Isn't he mildly attractive? Don't you want to sleep with him?"
"I'm only 15."
"C'mon, you girls think about this crap since puberty."
"So do you perverts."He let go of my slowly, placing me on the ground.
"That's my coat."
I looked down at it.
"It's a nice coat."
I replied, quietly."You really love snooping around don't you?"
"I'm just curious."
"Well too bad the curiosity killed the cat."He walked away. I didn't follow him. He doesn't seem to like me that much. Well, u don't expect him to.
Placing my hands in my pockets, I noticed a folded piece of paper. Unfolding it, it was a picture of Mother.
I looked back to find Dmitri, but he was gone.
