CHAPTER 19.
"Come on, guys!" Coach hollered from the small mini bus. "Why are you all so slow?"
"Calm down, Coach," Tom grumbled. "You're not the one with lunch packs."
"I meant the rest of you," Coach said, rolling his eyes as we all approached the bus. "Come on, we should have left about ten minutes ago."
"James had a little accident," Ethan snickered, his eyes glancing down to James' pants. "Didn't you, J?"
"How the hell was I supposed to know that that kid was there?" James whined, punching Ethan playfully.
"With your eyes, idiot," Millie rolled her eyes. "The kid was right in front of you."
"James is just too stubborn to admit what he did," I said, smirking. "J, you just got wrecked by a small kid."
"Can you not?" James exclaimed, scowling at us as we laughed. "God, you guys suck."
"And, you guys need to get on the fucking bus!" Coach shouted, startling all of us. "For the last time, come on!"
I scrambled onto the bus after Jade, following her as she headed to the back row with four seats.
She took the window seat, and I sat next to her.
Surprise, surprise. Ethan sat next to me, and James next to him.
A few minutes later, we're off to the closest beach near our town.
"Coach," Jade called from the back seat, as I tried to sidle closer to her to get away from Ethan. "Is there anything special we can do there?"
"We're surfing!" Coach called back and I'm momentarily shocked. "Is that cool with you guys? It's only for an hour or so, though."
"That's so cool!" Ella shrieked. "I haven't surfed since...I don't even know!"
"That's going to be fun," Ethan remarked, grabbing my arm and yanking me back into my seat. I mean, I was pretty much on Jade's lap. "Stop trying to get away from me!"
"You're being suffocating," I protested.
"Deal with it."
"I don't want to deal with it!" I said, frustrated.
"You're going to have to," he replied defiantly. On my other side, Jade rolled her eyes.
"You're being a bit...possessive, Ethan," Jade called over my head. "Nobody likes a possessive guy."
"I swear chicks dig that," James spoke up, frowning. He had been on his phone through the first few minutes of the trip."
"Not all of them, J," Jade said matter-of-factly. "You aren't a girl, are you? You wouldn't know."
"Sheesh," James muttered, sitting back. "You girls are complicated."
"And how's Mary coming along?" I teased him.
True to my word, I had introduced the two of them together, but I didn't stay long enough to see what happened.
"Eh," he shrugged. "I think she's got her eyes on someone else."
I frowned. "She never told me."
"Yeah, well, it's easy to see," James told me. "I'll have to go to Ella to find some girls."
After about 30 more minutes, we had all arrived.
It wasn't too busy, and I breathed in the fresh smell of the ocean.
