Chapter 16

I heard quiet snores coming from right next to me. I looked over, Charlotte mouth was slightly open and hair tasseled. She shifted slightly, I imagine she was trying to find a comfortable position. We were sat in the private waiting room, I had managed to get her to fall asleep. Although the couches were rock hard it was the best we had. The surgery was going to last about 4 hours, and the only reason I stayed was for Charlotte. If it was up to me we would be as far away from this place. I sat up quietly hoping not to wake up my sister who was only a few feet away. I needed fresh air. My boots echoed along the hallway as I searched for the exit door.

I walked out sitting on the stone steps of the hospital entrance. I looked down at my phone seeing we still had 2 hours until the surgery would be done. I was hungry, stressed, sad, angry and much more. I tried to gather all of my feeling up until I at least got away from Charlotte.

3 missed call

I clicked on the notification. 1 missed call from my manager and 2 missed calls from Harry both from a few hours ago. I clicked on my managers voicemail getting ready for some serious yelling.

LOUIS WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. I NEED YOU AT MY OFFICE PRONTO.

The message was short but by the tone of voice I could tell I was in a big amount of trouble. I clicked on Harrys voicemail next.

Hey, I was just trying to see if you were ok. You called me last night and you seemed a little off. Ok call me when you can, im getting worried.

I clicked on the seconds one next.

Hey I know I just called but I got off the phone with your managers and he seemed really upset. Please call me back as soon as possible.

I sighed. I wanted to cry but I couldn't find the tears, it like I had cried myself out. I decided to call Harry first. The phone rang 4 times before he picked up.

H-My god Louis where have you been

L- Im sorry. My voice cracked a little at the end.

H- He sighed before answering. Its fine

H- Where are you?

L- I hesitated before speaking.  Im back home

H- What the HELL are you doing there?

H- Louis I need you here. Not only do You have a  job to do, I need you here, for me.

L- I have to talk to you about that actually.

H- When will you get back? I need you back in the next two day and  we can settle this all then. Bye.

Just like that he hung up.  I debated weather I should call my manager back. I didn't want to get yelled at but I didn't really have any other choice. I called back and no one picked up. I decide to do it one more time but I was met with the same fate. I heard my stomach grumble. I took this as a sign to go get something to eat. I remembered seeing a chain of restaurants on my way here and decided on one of those.

I stopped at the McDonald down the street from the hospital. It was completely empty other than the one girl sitting behind the counter. I walked up to the lady behind the cash register. I cleared my throat trying to catch her attention. She sighed irritably putting down her phone and looking up.

"Hello wha-" Her eyes widened as she let out a loud gasp. I rolled my eye, rolling the balls of my feet forward.

"Can I get two bi-" She cut me off letting out a high pitched squeal. I quickly picked up her phone opening the camera. She bent over the counter holding up her phone to me face.

"Oh my god I love you're modeling. Can we take a picture?" I tried matching her wide smile but mine was no where near. She smiled down at the picture then back up at me.

"So what was it you wanted?" She asked placing her phone back onto the table. I gave her my order quickly. She gave me a wave as I walked out with my food. I returned a faint one not to be rude but my heart definitely wasn't in it. Befour things got so complicated I would thrive when things like that happened. I loved how happy people would get just to see me.

"Hey sleepy head" I nudged Charlotte. She blinked slowly sitting up. I sat the bag in her lap and took a seat next to her. She thanked me quietly. I knew she probably wasn't in any mood to speak. Her eye were puffy and red. She looked awful and somehow I felt as if it was my fault. I knew it wasn't but I just couldn't stand seeing her like this.

We sat in silence. Our chews were the only thing we could hear. tried many times to start a conversation but I couldn't find it in me to do it.

"Hey Char-" I was cut off again by the doctor walking in. Charlotte bolted from her seat. The doctor had a little smile on his face. This made me nervous, it was one of those this could either be bad news or good news. I stood patiently behind Char as she shot questions at him. I placed my hand on her shoulder signifying for her to calm down.

"How is she Doc?"

"The surgery went well, she's been up for the past hour. Shes going to need to stay in for the next few days maybe weeks. You can see her anytime, but please one at a time." Char spent a few more minutes asking questions befour the Doctor finally left.

We stood in silence for a few seconds befour she finally spoke up.

"I think you should see her first." My mouth fell open.

"No wa-" I tried to protest.

"I know about the fight, I also know that if it wasn't for you she wouldn't be here." I watched her take a pause while she started to tear up, but she still continued.

"She may have been mad but she'll appreciate what you've done for her." We started into each others eyes for a few seconds befour she broke the contact and sat down. Looks like I didnt have a choice.

I walked out searching for the room number.

104, I stopped walking. Only a few feet away from me was my mother. All I had to do was open this door and walk inside. I placed my hand on the knob. I took a deep breath slowly letting it out through my mouth.

I opened the door peeking inside. There she was laying on her bed. She looked pale, thin, unhealthy. I knocked on the door startling her.She looked over quickly eyes widening.

"Oh dear i-i-i" She stuttered.

"Its fine, I just wanted to see how you were holding up." She seemed at a lose for words. She looked slightly like a fish, closing and reopening her mouth like that. She patted the empty spot next to her. I walked over hesitantly. I watched her move slightly making more space for me. I sat down my back facing away from her. She set her hand on my shoulders pulling me back.

I lied down tucking myself under her arm.

"I-i-i" I was at a lose for words. I could feel my heartbeat start to speed up. I was scared she could hear it. I doubt she could, my breathing was probably covering up the noise. Tears welled up in my eyes. Then, I lost it. Tears flowed down my eyes. She shushed me gliding my fingers through my hair.

1326 words/// Ok so im thinking maybe 1 or 2 more chapters left. I have two more book ideas in the making. One is Phan (cute) and the other is about a girl stuck in an unhealthy relationship (girlxgirl).
