"My feet hurt" Rachel complained. "And why aren't we getting candy?" Macey pouted "I want more candy!" John sighed.
They had been complaining the whole time and Peter was still lost. They had backtracked to try and find him but there was no sign of Peter.
Gage looked down at Emily who had grown unusually quiet and sad. "Hey. Don't worry about your brother ok? He'll be alright." he said trying to comfort the little girl. She smiled a little. "Ok uncle Johnny" Emily said "I'll try"
"Hey Johnny!" He looked up at his partner who was slightly further ahead, "I'm gonna look down this street. Go ahead and take the kids to another house for trick-or-treating." Gage could see that Roy was starting to get worried about Peter and felt like it was half his fault so he just nodded.
He continued down the street with the kids who had gotten more excited about going to get more candy. they had hit a street of people who didn't have lights on so it was quiet for a moment. But not for long.
"Ha- have you guys ever heard of the Spotted Vine monster" Rachel asked nervously as she glanced around at her friends. They all nodded "Yeah!" James exclaimed making everyone jump. He had been silently trailing behind by the adults all evening.
"What is it?" Johnny asked "the Spotted Vine monster?" "It's the most awful monster ever!" Rachel replied. "It's huge and covered in purple spots and green vines. It has red eyes an-" "It eats kids!" Macey shrieked.
Emily couldn't take it anymore. Crying, she ran to hide behind johnny's leg. "Aww it's ok Em'" James said. "No! What if it ate Peter?" She sobbed.
"Hey Com'mon. No one has gotten eaten and there's no such thing as monsters." Gage said getting down on his knees to wipe away Emily's tears. "Yes there is" the kids said in unison. "No there's not" the paramedic argued through gritted teeth.
"Yes there is!"
"No there isn't"
"Yes!"
"No!"
