"Ok ok! If you want to believe it's real go ahead" Johnny exclaimed in exasperation. Macey Rachel and James looked satisfied while Emily looked terrified and Robert rolled his eyes.
Man! Why would someone believe something so dumb? There's no such thing as monsters. The kids however had disagreed for two whole blocks. Oh well. I wonder how Roy's doing... he isn't back yet? Johnny said looking back for any sign of his partner. Nope.
Gage was lost in thought and almost didn't catch that the next house was dark. "Hey kids! Don't go up there!" He yelled as the they ran up the steps to the porch. Rachel hesitated mid-step making Robert crash into her.
Johnny ran up as the pair tumbled the short distance down the stairs. As he reached them Rachel burst into tears. Her wire tail was crooked and her cat ear headband was crooked. Robert's white Lan coat was coveted in dirt.
"You alright? Did ya hit your head at all?" John asked examining Rachel and Robert. "Nah" Robert replied looking at Rachel "Gee I'm sorry Rachel. I didn't mean to crash into you" She shook her head "No that's not what's wrong"
Gage gave her a look of concern. "Well what's wrong? Are you hurt?" "No" Rachel sobbed. She looked up at him wide eyed "I lost all my candy" "Oh well um don't cry. Don't cry. We can pick it up. Right?"
Robert immediately went to work picking up stray pieces of candy and soon the others joined in though it was hard in the dark. "Hey! What was that?" James said looking up in alarm. Johnny stood up and looked over his shoulder. "What was what?" "Shh listen!"
The while group stared at the back yard of the house. The bushes moved and crunched like something was approaching. "A dog?" Gage guessed. "Maybe it's just a bird" Emily wimpered coming up to hold Johnny's hand. The kids backed up as the rustling grew louder.
John instinctively stepped in front of the children. There were multiple footsteps and what ever it was it was breathing hard. Just a dog. Just a dog.... oh pleas let it just be a dog!
Suddenly a huge creature crashed out of the bushes. It was covered in dead vines and moss and had four arms and four feet. It's not possible! It's it's- "The Spotted Vine monster!" James shrieked.
