I debated sending the message. We weren't even dating, but she meant so much more to me than anybody else ever did. She was my best friend. She was always there for me, refusing to leave me. I tried leaving her, believe me. Indirectly, yes, but it got the point across. Every single time, just her sending a message was enough to convince me. It was always a direct side effect to being her friend, but i was falling for her. I was four years older than her at the age of seventeen, but I was willing to look past that.
I had typed out the eight letters ten minutes before now, but i was still debating on sending them. What if she didn't like it? What she responded negatively. My paranoia kicked in, and i began to think of possible negative scenarios.
My mind thought of what she could possibly say.
"But you're seventeen! i'm thirteen!" she sent "our age difference is four years, i sorry, but no."
"Dude, your like a brother to me." she may say
"There's no way a long distance relationship could work between us. I'm sorry, but no."
"Dont respond to this. Delete me from your friends, delete everything. I could never love somebody as immature as you."
I was worried sick, but i decided she should know. I sent them, and waited nervously. a minute later, i saw the chat symbol that signified her typing. Immediately, my stomach had butterflies. It took a minute, and i sat at my computer, waiting both impatiently, and nervously. eventually, she sent her response.
"I... I love you too." she responded. "but... what if doesn't work out?"
"Love, i will make it work." I sent back. "You mean the world to me. i love you more than anything on this planet, and i will make it work."
"Really?" she asked.
"I will do anything for you." i said. "I mean it."
We talked for the next few hours online. We had a lot of fun, teasing each other, loving on each other, and honestly just talking. If anything, By the end of the day, when i had to go, i loved her even more than before. when i had to go, I looked back on the message that had changed my life.
"I love you" it read. "Sent 11:58 AM. Read."
