Eliza's Perspective:
I couldn't just stand there. I had to run away. I'm still running. I'm not gonna look back. I made the memories come back to Emily.
The memories of her dead brother. The memories of abandonment.
The memories of grief.
All of them.I ran past Starbucks, the corner store, the Barnes & Noble, and Rite Aid.
I bumped into people. "Excuse me! Pardon!" I shouted.
Tears started to fall. I kept running.
I closed my eyes but I still ran. It was as if I had no control over my body in this moment.
I felt my feet hit the road and cars honked at me. I opened my eyes.
"Hey kid! Watch o--" A hard object hit my body, sending me flying across the street and into the pavement. All the voices. The screams, the shouts, the cries. Then the sirens. They became distant.
Everything and everyone became covered in darkness.

3rd Person Perspective:
Flashback:
Eliza was only 7. Childish, bright attitude, positive mindset.
She walked alongside her mother and father towards the small park down the street from her school.
When they arrived, the children in the park ran over to play with her. All smiles and good fun.
A boy about a year older or so than Eliza saw how much fun she was having and became jealous.
He ran over to her and shoved her onto the ground.
He called her names.
Said she wasn't normal.
Eliza became angry and sad.
Her eyes turned a light shade of red.
The children noticed. They started to believe what the boy was saying was actually true.
Everyone started to avoid Eliza, even her teachers at school.
Eliza became an outcast.
She began to wear contacts, but the red of her eyes would still show.
-------
Eliza was only 11. She had just started a new school in Virginia.
Her family had to move, Eliza's bullying became serious.
She walked in, her head down.
She was shaking.
Her teacher asked,
"Honey, why is your head down?"
Eliza replied with,
"I don't want to scare anyone. I'm normal, too." She began to sniffle the stray tears that began to crawl out of her eyes.
Her teacher came up to Eliza and lifted her head.
She noticed Eliza's eyes.
"Do you have pinkeye?" She asked.
"No. I'm not sick. This is my natural eye color."
The gasps heard in the room echoed.
Eliza's teacher got up and spoke.
"Have a seat in the back, Eliza..."
She eyed Eliza as she walked to her seat with her head down.
