Lana's POV
Yes, the rain stopped but to be completely honest, it was kinda nice. It was like a bonding moment, eh.
"What are we gonna do now?" Asks Mia as she watched me climb down from the tree.
"I don't know, maybe we should explore?" I suggest, then my foot slipped, I cling onto a tree branch for life not that I would die but it would still hurt.
"Be careful" says Mia worriedly.
"I'm trying to be" I say as I reposition my foot. I climb down and walk over to the guys as Estelle and Bridie do the same. I watch as Dontae fell out of the tree. I hear Bridie and Estelle begin to laugh uncontrollably and I have to admit it was very funny. I walk over to him and ask if he's ok and then walk off.
"Gee thanks alot Lana" says Dontae as he gets back up.
"At least I asked" I say putting my arms up in defence.
"So what are we gonna do?" Asks Jackson
"Yeah" says Hamish budding in before I could answer.
"Well maybe we could go exploring, and possibly search for supplies or even a proper shelter?" I suggest plainly as though it was obvious.
"Good idea" says Mia as she joins the group.
"Yeah and maybe we might even run into other survivors" says Bridie.
"Ok then lets go that way" says Jackson, taking charge as he begins to descend down a slope. We all follow his lead.
~~~
"Ugh we are never gonna find any good shelter or any other survivors, all we have found is a dumb camera, an old boot, a few bones, and a backpack" says Estelle complaining as usual.
"Yeah well atleast the backpack is good" Says Bridie trying to shine the bright side on our situation.
"Yeah but the bones are just creepy" Says Estelle with a distasteful face.
"I agree with you on that one" says Hamish.
"Yeah me too, what bones where they, a deer?" Asks Jackson, thinking over his option.
"More like human" says Dontae. Everyone freezes and stares at Dontae with wide eyes.
"What?" Asks Mia slightlt confused at Dontaes sudden outburst.
"They were human bones" repeats Dontae as thoigh it were obvious.
"I don't think they were human" says Estelle.
"Yeah, how are you so sure?" I ask slightly worried about the answer.
"You can tell by their shape and...when you got as far away from them as possible I stayed behind a bit and found this" says Dontae as he holds up a slightly rusty compass.
A deathly silence came upon the group.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME, YOU KEPT A COMPASS THAT WAS FOUND BY A DEAD BODY?" Yells Bridie in disgust.
"It can help us get home" says Dontae plainly.
"Well as long as you hold it and not me you can keep it" I say as I move away from Dontae.
"Sure" says Dontae agreeingly as he puts it back into his pocket. We begin to continue our journey. Hours began to pass and we grew more and more hungry.
"I seriously wish I was back home right now" I say trying to start a hopeless conversation.
"We all do Lana" says Jackson his voice sounding bitter.
"Sorry, just trying to start a conversation" I say grumpily.
"Well can you make it about something else" says Jackson.
"Forget it" I mutter just low enough for me to hear.
--4 Hours Later--
"RUN!!!" Screams Bridie as she makes a break for the exit with Hamish close behind her. I sprint after her but get caught on a sticky substance and fall to the floor. I scream in fear at the sight in front of me.
"LANA!" Yells Estelle with tears in her eyes, "NOOOOO!"
