Nick POV

Nicholas returned Miss Hopps to the care of her friend after their dance. Her lively talk encouraged familiarity, and it tempted him to take more than his fair share of her time.

She had caught his eye when he'd noticed her dancing with a partner far less gifted than herself. She'd had that athletic grace, that calm assurance in her abilities and herself.

It was a pity she was poor. Even more so that her family didn't follow her example, if the scenes they'd caused were anything to go by. How they'd managed to raise HER was a complete mystery to Nick.

Jack was currently dancing with Judy's elder sister, who was admittedly far prettier than Judy, if he was honest. But none of these country belles really compared to the ladies he was used to, but they had their own charm.

Wilde retreated to a corner, fixed a bored and haughty look on his face, and nursed his glass of wine thoughtfully, really only taking a sip or two. He didn't want to be disturbed.

(SORRY for such a short update! I haven't had time, recently. Happy Halloween!)
