Derek and Meredith are married, they have 2 children. Zola and Bailey. They both work at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Derek is a neurosurgeon and Meredith is General Surgery.

Meredith: Hey Amelia.
Amelia: Where's Derek?
Meredith: Derek just left to go to the airport, its his last and final report. I'm glad its the final.
Amelia: Oh, I thought he was gonna leave later.
Meredith: Nope. Not at all.
Amelia: What if Derek gets in a car accident. What if he dies? What if he goes away?
Meredith: Don't think that Amelia. That's not safe. Don't jinx it. Nor don't say about it.
