I woke up to silence. Alex was in the fetal possition beside me. I walked downstairs and on the counter was a note from Casey:
"Alex and Aye, I took Daisy out for breakfast, enjoy some peace! -Casey"
Huh. She's never done that before. And by that I mean offered alone time between me and Alex. NEVER since I've known her.
I opened the fridge to find another note "Also I'm buying dinner, you guys deserve something from me for once. -Casey, again"
I closed the fridge and put some coffee in the pot. I rummaged in the fridge for food, but it was useless, I decided on toast. This vegitarian thing had been a bad idea, I was loosing too much weight, and I hadn't yet tried tofu.
I popped some toast in the toaster and when it swooped out of the toaster, I spread butter on it. I sprinkled cinnimon and sugar on top, it was Alex's favorite!
I walked up stairs and Alex and I walked to the kitchen together this time. All dressed for work, and ready to eat our toast and drink our coffee.
"So, like the toast?" I asked.
"Yeah its my favorite." she said.
"I know!" I replied.
We stared at eachother for a while, waiting for Casey and Daisy to arrive.
it got so awkward I felt sweat peeking out from the roots of my hair.
Alex grabbed my hand, and I smiled up at her. She kind of shook my arm around before she patted my leg and walked away.
I turned around and watched her stand at my window looking at something. I suspected one of the many buildings.
She pulled her hair back into a ponytail.
"Do you want to call Casey?" She asked.
"Sure go ahead." I said.
Alex called Casey.
"Casey are you almost here?"
"Ugh."
"oh?"
"Okay love you too, bye."
"what did she say?" I asked.
"She's on her way to the daycare to drop Daisy off...."
"okay, spectacular!" I beamed.
I twitched my finger signing for her to come to me.
She cocked her head and slowly walked towards me.
"what?" she smiled.
"Come a little closer." I said.
"okay," she bit her lip, and took another step towards me.
I winked and grabbed her hands.
I spun her around and we began to dance.
I could hear footsteps outside.
"What's wrong!?" Alex asked
"I thought I heard... Footsteps..." I said.
Alex's eyes doubled in size, as we heard more footsteps. They had been louder.... closer... than before.
Alex stiffened before she latched onto me, making me yipe.
we saw a man walk by to the house next door. He had a shovel, so I figured it was just a mistaken sound.
I grabbed my keys, and we drove to work. She was still so silent. I swear between Daley, Casey, Daisy and Alex, there hasn't been a quiet ride... since I've been able to drive.
