Alex was taking forever, and I was running out of things to talk about that didn't involve Alex. I mostly talked about Daisy and Casey, and avoided as well as I could, any topic involving Daley.
"So, I have heard so much about this little family of yours" He smiled "Where do you work though?"
"Oh, I work at the Smithsonian with Alex, Ian, Vincent, and our new agent Christina," I said proudly.
"Oh my favorite museum!? What do you do, I highly doubt your a guide." He said, seemingly intrigued.
Casey answered for me. "We are anthropologists, Aisly and I, I'm a physical anthropologist, for the d.c. state crime lab, and she is a Forensic Anthropologist at the Smithsonian institute." Casey said.
"What she said.." I said not knowing what else to say.
"Wow, that's wonderful, what does your girlfriend do?" Brian asked.
Casey shifted uncomfortably, and cleared her throat, letting me know I needed to speak.
"Oh me? Oh." I looked at Casey who's eyes pleaded that It wasn't official that Alex and I were together. I let out a sigh and looked to my father. "Alex is a forensic artist, she does all of the facial reconstructions, descriptive drawings, and animates simulated situations, such as any fights, or conflicts that the victim had come across, we prefer that she only shows us ones that could be fatal though."
"Mommy what's a girlfriend? Can I have one?" Daisy asked me.
Oh boy.
"Daisy, a girl friend is a friend who is a girl." I explained.
"So then how come I can't have a boy friend?" Daisy asked confused.
"You can have a boy that's a friend." I said innocently.
"Mommy daddy was your boyfriend and you kissed, do you and your girlfriends kiss too?" Daisy asked. Questions. So many questions.
I sighed and looked to my sister and father for answers.
"Daisy, there are girl friends and there are girlfriends and there are boy friends and boyfriends." I tried to put it as simply as I could. "The difference is, one is just a friend... the other is a companion, someone who you can kiss--"
"Like daddy" Daisy stated.
I sighed again. "Yeah, like daddy."
"So what is Auntie Alex? a girl friend or your girlfriend?" Daisy asked.
"I don't think now is a good time to talk about this--"
"I think now is the PERFECT time to talk about this," Casey stopped me.
I, for the third time tonight, sighed. "I love your aunt Alex. She is my girlfriend, I kiss her, and she means just as much to me as your father did." I said. "But just because I love a woman, doesn't mean you should, or that you want to, or would like to. That all depends on your feelings, and it is something you will know when you get older."
"Well put dear." Brian said. "You're a great mother, I couldn't be more proud."
"Hmmph." Casey, annoyed.
"Ill be right back, I really need to go get Alex." I said, and rushed back up the stairs.
I was so frustrated that I just opened the door and when I had walked in I noticed her sitting in the corner, clutching her head.
"Alex...?" I said confused.
"What do you want?" She asked and put down the book she was reading.
