Days turned into weeks, and the weeks added up into a month.
It had been a month since she had last felt the presence of her Tarzan. He had completely disappeared without a trace, and it had begun to feel as if she had imagined the whole thing.
At least now her mind had finally gotten grips with reality, and her life in the New York City had finally found its pacing.
Strangely, she had gotten a bit closer to Tyr, and now she hoped as Jessie did, that they had something special.
Since their meat party, he had visited twice again, and he had brought enough brisket to have another meat party.
She still had no clear definition of what he did as an occupation, but she knew that he traveled a lot and was wealthy enough to constantly wear expensive clothing.
On the weekends, Jessie had declared herself as her tour guide to show her the beauty of New York City whenever she did not have class, or work.
The girls had formed such a tight bond, Ysabel felt that Jessie was the sister she was meant to have.
For the next two weeks, Jessie would be visiting her parents in Georgia, and without her around, Ysabel felt lonely.
Honestly, she missed Aunt May and Joey, and she wished she could return home to visit. They had been asking her to do so previously, but Ysabel felt that she could only return when she was firmly situated in New York, and was wealthy enough to buy them expensive gifts.
Perhaps she would return during Christmas, and bring her expensive presents with her.
It would be killing two birds with a stone.
Now that she thought about it, It had been while since she heard from Aunt May and Joey. Like clockwork, they called every Sunday evening by 6pm, unfailingly, but they had not called this past Sunday. She couldn't believe that she had been so busy that she had failed to notice.
Immediately, she dialed the home number. It rang a few times, but no one answered. She tried again, it rang, but still no one answered.
"Strange." she said to herself.
Usually, one of them answered the phone almost immediately. She tried their cell phones, but still received no response. Her guess was that they had moved on with their lives or that they were attending a function.
Ysabel made sure to create a memo to remind her to try again. Something was off concerning them, but she ignored the nagging feeling and continued on with her work.
Life at the company had not changed. Tessa still spat snide words at her, but her work had increased so much that she barely had time to acknowledge it. Helen kept her very busy with projects, that she did not have time to listen to Tessa's remarks.
So far, she had restored the wall art of two buildings, had finished the Lake placid project, and had created the new artwork that was to be displayed in the foyer of the entrance of Vern.
By the time she finished with the painting, it was past 11pm. Helen did not like it when she stayed really late at work; she believed that a single girl should not go home so late into the night.
For safety, Ysabel ordered an Uber to pick her up in front of the company. She prepared her belongings and went down to await the Uber driver.
What awaited Ysabel below was something she could never had imagined. Something she would never forget, something that will haunt her for the rest of her life.
