Tyr looked to the trembling girl. She had curled into a fetal position, as if trying to protect herself form the world.

She was nothing but a shell of what she had previously been. Eyes that were once full of life and curiosity, now seemed dead and vacant.

Fear had the ability to kill, before death arrived, and now, it was slowly eating away at Ysabel. She allowed no one to touch her, or even come close to her.

Helplessly, he had watched as she screamed till she could no longer utter a sound. It pained him to see her in such a state, and he would endure whatever pain that was necessary to remove the dreadful memory from her mind.

He could not get a testimony from her concerning what had happened, but from his deductions, his guess was that she had witnessed the murder. Dave's headless body was enough evidence.

A lot of things about the evening were unclear.

Tyr had been preparing for his rest when a strange urge to find Ysabel alarmed him. He could not explain how he knew that she was in trouble, he had just listened to his instincts and it had led him to her.

His wish was that he could shield her from messy ordeal, but the watchers needed to be summoned to remove the bodies and proceed with an investigation.

It worried him that someone would seek to commit a crime in Vern, Lady Helen's territory.

Perhaps someone was seeking to start a war.

It was not wise to trifle with Helen. Perhaps many had forgotten, but Helen's is a dangerously being.

Helen had not been pleased when she had been informed of the occurrence. Although, she had seemed calm when they had conversed, he could tell that she was beyond furious concerning the situation.

Tyr turned to look at Ysabel, she was literally a bloody mess. The blood on her face had dried, and he wished to wipe it off, to console her, but anytime he approached, she screamed her head off.

His prayer was that Helen would arrive soon to console her.

Think of the devil...

A figure suddenly stepped out of nothing into the hallway, and Ysabel screeched and tried to possibly disappear into the wall.

Tyr groaned, "I forgot to warn you not to do that."

Helen turned to glare at him, "I am not pleased." she growled and returned her attention to Ysabel with a smile, "It is alright my child."

Ysabel flinched, and withdrew further away from her. "What do we do?" Tyr as he walked to her side. "do you intend to erase her memory?"

"No." Helen answered simply as she sat on the closest chair, "I was informed that two of perpetrators got away. That was messy of you Tyr. They will remember her face, for her safety, it would be wise for her to know what the world is truly like."

"You would tell her of others?!" he frowned.

"I do not know of a reason not to." Helen smiled, "With her curious nature, Ysabel would have found the truth out sooner or later. I see no reason to not speak of it now."

For a few seconds, Helen looked at the terrified girl before them. This was not how she had planned for Ysabel to be introduced to their world. It irritated her deeply whenever her plans got disrupted.

It was unfortunate that Ysabel would not be able to un-see what she had seen, the girl would just have to learn how to deal with it. If she cleaned her memory, it would leave Ysabel at a disadvantage.

"I need you to be calm." Helen ordered.

It felt like a bucket of warmth had been poured on her, Ysabel felt her mind and body relax as her fears were washed away. Thoughts of terror, fear, and paranoia were pushed to the farthest parts of her mind.

"How?" Ysabel asked weakly.

Helen smiled sadly, "Allow me to begin by apologizing for what you witnessed tonight." she said softly, "It was the work of the night walkers. They are known for causing trouble"

Ysabel looked at Helen, the feeling of warmth kept her mind in a happy limbo. She annoyed her that she could not react in whatsoever way her usual self would.

"Night walkers." Ysabel repeated.

"Yes, Vampires as humans have learned to call them." Tyr said.

"Vampire? Edward Cullen." Ysabel hated that her mind could barely string together coherent questions. There was so much she wanted to ask.

Helen giggled, "These Vampires don't sparkle." she rose off her chair and went to sit by Ysabel's feet. "Pay close attention Ysabel, I will explain the world as clearly as I possibly can to you."

Now that Helen was closer, Ysabel observed that Helen looked years younger than what she was supposed to be. The fine lines and wrinkles that were usually evident on her face had disappeared, and her youth had been restored. In fact, she looked like a woman in her late twenties.

Although Helen looked much younger, Ysabel could see the weight of years and knowledge that she carried in her eyes.

"In this world," Helen began, "there are many creatures that walk the earth. Fae, shifter, witch, vampire, fairy, and of course human. There are many more creatures out there, but that does not mean that they are at liberty to walk the earth. We have all co-existed since the beginning of time, not born of scientific experiments, as fiction sometimes depicts. We co-exist as the same, yet different. Although humans are of the same kind, they distinguish themselves by color and features, categorizing themselves into races, but the true races of the earth are fae, shifter, witch, vampire, fairy, and humans."

Helen watched Ysabel to see how she was assimilating the information, but there was no reaction from her, and Tyr was beginning to grow even more concerned.

"Why did you hire me?" Ysabel suddenly asked.

They were so shocked that she had asked a coherent question, that Helen sputtered before forming a sentence. "I came to you because I was enamored by your work. It gave me a sense of heaven that nothing on earth has been able to do so in a long time."

Tears welled up in Ysabel eyes, and though she had thought that she was dry of tears, Ysabel began to weep in Helen's arms.

"My dear child." Helen said in a soothing manner, "I would never allow anything to happen to you."

After a few minutes of Ysabel wailing into Helen's arms, she stopped crying and just enjoyed the comfort of Helen's motherly embrace.

"Am I of a different race?" Ysabel suddenly asked.

Helen laughed, "Do you wish to be of another race? Do you not wish to be human?"

Ysabel looked up into Helen's younger face, "What are you Helen?"

"I am Fae." she answered.

"One of the ancients." Tyr added. "living longer than most."

Ysabel gasped in astonishment, "How do you still look like this?"

Helen chuckled, "Fae age differently, and over the years we have mastered the art of preserving the youth of our race." she sighed, "what is most important now, is your safety. I will arrange for you to stay with a close friend and client, this way you will still be able to finish your assignments, and your safety will be ensured."

Ysabel nodded in understanding and turned to Tyr, "Are you also Fae?"

"Yes." Tyr smiled fondly at her, "I am inter-racial, part Fae and Shifter." Ysabel nodded at him in acknowledgement.

Exhausted, bloody and tired, Ysabel and soon she dozed off in the arms of Helen, hoping that everything was just a nightmare that she would soon wake up from.
