Chapter 5-New Start

NOVEMBER 21ST 2017

KALLIE'S POV

Morning came and clean up begun, Daryl was putting a ax threw the heads of the dead before we drug them away from the camp, Daryl was about to drive the ax threw Ed's head but Carol insisted that she wanted to, She swung the ax back a good 7-8 times I guess that was her way of saying FUCK YOU after all the years of abuse. We were about to drag Amy's body to the pit to burn when the little asian guy Glenn stopped us, We bury the ones we love and burn the rest.

After getting that mess cleaned up, We all gathered around the RV to talk about what happen last night, I spoke up "Rick the camp ain't safe we lost 5 last night plus Morales daughter got scratched , We can't stay here any longer".  I told him "I know Shane & I are trying to come up with a plan on were we should head next we will let y'all know tonight at dinner" Rick said.

Dinner came and Rick stood up to speak "We have decided that we are going to head north of here, it might be a little safer maybe find a place we can settle down for a while,we will leave in the morning" 

We began packing up the little bit of things we still had left, I sat there folding my clothes thinking of how life once was, about my parents wondering if there dead or alive or were they are, I miss them so much. Megan walk in the tent and began packing her things we started chatting we really hadn't talked lately, "Have you noticed that guy Shane" She asked. "Nah not really I've been thinking to much lately my head has been else were" I replied. "He's kinda cute I think, but I guess the apocalypse isn't really the time to be trying to find a man huh?" Megan said. "I guess if you think so do what you want I guess you never know what tomarrow hold might as well live while you can" I told her.

"We better get some sleep since we gonna be doing a lot of driving tomorrow" I told her. "I'm going to go and sit by the fire for a while, maybe see if anybody has a extra smoke I can get" Megan replied. I laid there just tossing and turning threw the night I just couldn't clear my head, It just kept racing. I didn't even know what time it was I knew it was in the early morning hours, I still seen the fire going so I decided to walk out to see who was up. It was Lori and Daryl, I went over and sat and talked to them Lori was worried about leaving tomorrow, I was too I told her. Daryl lit up a cigarette "Could I get one of those?" I asked "I hadn't had one in what felt like a life time, Were is Megan she never came back to the tent" I asked "She walked back to Shane's tent with him, A little over an hour ago" Daryl said. We sat there talking for awhile, til the sun began coming up over the back of the trees Carol came over and her and Lori began making breakfast, Everybody started walking up to grab a plate of food before we got ready to take off, I got ready and began packing my car down with my stuff, When Rick walked over "Were not gonna take all the vehicles it's just to much gas, Would you rather take you car or ride with somebody?" He asked. "I guess I can ride with somebody" I said "Alright then it's settle you and Megan can ride with Shane,Carol & Sophia in the SUV" He said "Okay" I replied as I began taking out the couple things I had just put in the car and carried the over to the SUV.

So we loaded up and took off heading north of Atlanta, Carol and Sophia sat in the back with me and Megan sat up front with Shane, "I wonder if we can stop by in Tennessee just to see about my parents" I asked Shane. "If we go up that far i'm sure Rick won't mind stopping" He said. We drove for a couple hours and Rick pulled off on to this little road, The sign read welcome to Whistling Willows it was a little gated community off of the interstate in this little town. It looked like it used to be a nice little place, We went threw the big black iron gates and we came up on 2 little houses Rick stopped the car and we all got out," We will go inside make sure it's clear then come back and get you guys if anything goes wrong just fire a shot" He told us. They cleared it out and we walked threw the white fence and up onto the porch, It was beautiful on the inside it didn't even look as if the apocalypse had touched it, The cabinets were still full of food, it had power and running water it will be a good little place to call home for awhile.

We unloaded the bags and we split up between the 2 houses, I stayed in the first house with Rick,Lori, and Carl, Carol,Sophia, And Megan we split the 3 bedrooms. Daryl,Shane And Dale took the second house beside us. The next morning we went out scouting the rest of the neighborhood, We ended up finding more food,clothes, and guns. They actually had a little clinic like building that they had been using it was stalked full of medical supplies and a bunch of different medicines seeing all that reminded me that I was still a nurse I could still help people and make a difference, After we had finished scouting we all went back to have some lunch, Daryl had went hunting this morning and brought back some squirrels and rabbits, and it tasted good for a change besides the canned food we hadn't had meat since the fish fry at the camp. I was looking threw my bags and started putting things away and found the picture of my family that I had brought with me I started crying, For all I know this could be the only thing of them I actually had left. Last night I actually got a good nights sleep for the first time since this all started knowing that the doors locked and nothing was going to get in, Hopefully it can stay like this for a little while.
