ROYAL SORCERER FOR DAYS...

CHAPTER 6

As I got closer and closer to the murmuring woods, the more and more anxious I got. Right now I am at the entrance to the murmuring woods. I can see the great big, green giants that surround and cover the murmuring woods, I can hear the woods murmuring... almost like inviting me to come in and explore, I can hear a sound of water rushing down... there must be a river or a water fall or something like that in there. The more I think about this the more goose bumps I get, even though it is barely that cold right now.

'get yourself together, Kate' I said to myself. 'because you're going to have to go in there even if you like it or not!' and so I made my unicorn 'pearl' take slow yet steady steps in to the woods, right now pearl was the only company I had.

Pearl was starting to slow down, I am guessing that she is starting to get tired... but I have to keep going till we find a good spot to rest our heads and camp for the night.

"come on girl, you can make it! Come on pearl!" I said, trying to encourage pearl to keep going at a reasonable pace.

The sun is setting and it is beginning to get quite chilly here in the murmuring woods.

Me and pearl the unicorn which is also known as the horse here was beginning to get tired. I was really nervous when I first set out to the woods, but now tiredness has taken over the nervousness that I was feeling before.

We set up camp under a gigantic shady tree, where there was plenty of grass for pearl to eat. I was so tired that my eyes for trying to shut themselves, it was like my body was forcing me to go to sleep! But I should probably start a camp fire right now as it was so cold in the woods at night. So, I gathered some fire wood and started the fire using a match from the match box that Megan had given me earlier today when I was packing my bag because she had thought that I might need it along the way, and she was right I did need it.

All those thoughts about the castle just made me feel lonely and I was starting miss my friends there, especially Alex. I was starting to miss Alex, the great king of Ocirenn! His majesty Alex!

"Oh, how stupid are you Kate? That's the king you are talking about!" I said to my myself very seriously. And that is when I noticed that the diamond Alex gave me when I left for the woods was changing colour, one moment it was flashing a bright red and the next moment it was flashing a bright blue and so it kept changing colour. This could only mean one thing! Alex wanted to talk to me! His majesty Alex wanted to talk to me! Me, the one who is supposed to serve him! But of course I am not an actual royal saucerer!

As I went through all my thoughts I could see that the diamond was flashing a very bright yellow in colour, Alex was waiting for me to pick up the diamond, he was waiting for me to pick it up so that he could talk to me!

I started to walk toward my bag, which is where the diamond was peeking out from, and I picked it up. I felt its warmth on my skin, this really was such a magical piece of equipment, but then again this is all magic! it is all magic. I am trapped in a place which is not actually where I used to live, yet I feel so comfortable living in this world, I hope I never have to go back to the real human world where I am just an orphan who has no family at all and a person who no one cares about!

I felt heat rush and gather behind my eyes as a tear just fell out of it. I can't cry now! Alex is waiting for me to talk to him! Come on Kate, pull yourself together! And that is when I saw Alex just staring at me through the diamond.

"are you – are you crying? Kate, you sure that you're alright? What happened Kate, come on you know you can talk to me about anything?" he said.

There was a moment of awkward silence between us, I felt awkward and very embarrassed because I had just in front of Alex, the king!

"Kate, can you and will you please tell me what happened? You are scaring me right now; you know that? Come on Kate, talk to me!" he demanded and he looked really worried.

"I – I – I'm alright" I said with a voice so shaky that I was trying so hard not to choke on my own tongue.

"are you sure you are alright?" he asked yet again.

"yep, I am alright your ma – I mean Alex"

I could see that he was trying so hard not to burst out giggling, he really was a bit too young to be the king but, he was controlling the kingdom of Ocirenn pretty well and I could see that the people here loved him so very much.

"ok Kate, I just called to make sure that you are well and safe which I guess you are! And do – do you have anything to tell me or talk to me about?" he asked in a very soothing and kind voice.

"no, not really Alex. I guess I will talk to you tomorrow" I said smiling. It really was quite pleasant to talk to him.

"okay then Kate, have a good and a safe night and may god bless you! Bye Kate and good night, by the way keep a look out for the diamond because I might be calling you!" and I could see his face slowly fade away from the diamond.

I could see that pearl was fast asleep and that she has already drifted off to dream land. 'happy dreams, pearl' I murmured softly to her, then I rested my head near the tree roots and I was drifting off to dream land sooner than I thought!
