ROYAL SORCERER FOR DAYS...

CHAPTER 11

The next morning, I woke up nice and early, probably because I couldn't sleep with the idea of meeting a deadly saucerer circulating in my head! Then, I went through my usual morning routines and went for a quick stroll around the lake which is now red!

As I finished my stroll around the lake and started to head back to our camp site where Arnold and Pearl was still fast asleep, I noticed that the diamond Alex gave me was changing colour again, and that only meant one thing, he wanted to talk to me.

So, I picked it up the way I usually do and saw Alex staring at me through the diamond, like he normally does, except that he looked all tired and worn out. He had dark circles around his eyes like he hasn't had much sleep in a long time, his pale face has gotten paler in colour and his hair which is always brushed neatly was messed up and all over the place today!

"Alex are you okay? What happened Alex?" I was starting get worried now. What if something happened in the castle while I was here? What... what if Alfred went to the castle while I was out here searching for him in the woods? No... no, it can't be! Alex, say something, you are starting to worry me now!

"K... Kate? Is that you?" he asked so weakly, like he didn't even have the energy to stand up!

"yes, Alex it's me.... Kate, the royal saucerer and your friend, Kate!"

"Kate... *cough* you have... to *cough* hurry! The disease... is *cough* getting out of control! *cough, cough, cough*"

"Alex, are you sure you are alright?" the coughing was starting to scare me. What if... what if he had caught.... No, NO, NO... it CAN'T BE....

"Kate, you have to hurry... *cough* it looks like most of the people who ate the food the cook prepared have got the first symptoms of the disease!"

"Alex, please don't tell me that coughing is one of the first symptoms!"

"actually*cough* it is, Kate..." he said. I saw water gather behind his eyes, his eyes were watering.

The diamond turned the normal colour as I saw Alex's face disappear into nowhere.

NO.... he can't have caught the disease... no, no, NO! I must HURRY!!

"what happened, Kate?" Arnold asked as he got up from where he was sleeping, he had just woken up.

"nothing, Arnold. It's just that we need to hurry, I feel like we are wasting time!" I told him trying to hide the worried and panicked look I was wearing.

"how are we wasting time?, tell me Kate" he looked a bit mad as he said this!

"I don't know, I just feel like we have been hanging around the forest a little too much and not using it well enough, but of course I can't blame you because we only met a few days ago, and in that time period you have helped me a lot!" I said feeling a bit guilty for blaming him for what I've been doing. I was the one who was wondering around in the forest and I blame him! What kind of person am I?

"Kate, I promise you that we won't be wasting any more time! After we have breakfast we will go face my 'father'" he said.

"first of all, we need to go collect some fruits and berries for breakfast, then we can fill our drink bottles with water."

"sounds like a good idea, a perfect idea actually!" he said beaming a smile at me as he said this.

"so, do you want to go collect the berries, or do you want me to do that?"

"I think I will go collect the berries because on the way I can eat some, more berries for me and all, you know" he said winking at me.

As he set off to find some food for us, I collected my drink bottle off the floor as it needed to be filled.

"Aguamenti" I cried pointing my wand at the inside of the drink bottle as a stream of water magically appeared from the tip of my wand. After I filled the drink bottle, I pointed my wand at pearl so she can have a lovely and refreshing drink, but instead she turned her body towards my wand, which is where the water was coming from and Pearl seemed to kind of have a bath. So, I directed my wand at her body, which covered her with water, and she seemed to really enjoy it!

After I got the drink bottles all filled up, I then put it back in my bag, and that's when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Ta da!!" Arnold cried out showing me the berries that he was holding. There were blackberries, raspberries, blue berries and he even had an apple in his hands.

"how did you find all that?" I asked in amazement.

"oh! Just went a bit deeper in to the forest, that's all. And by the way, the apple is for Pearl, okay?"

"alright, alright, I won't eat it" I said chuckling. "here you go, Pearl" I said as I chucked the apple towards her, which fell on the ground with a 'thud' next to her. Pearl started to munch away like she has never seen an apple before!
