Chapter 24
Arissa's POV
It was 9:45am and I was completely ready, sat on the sofa, watching the seconds tick by on the clock as I waited for a knock on the door, more precisely for Tyler to knock on the door.
"You off somewhere?" Drew asked as he walked into the room, biting into his apple. He plonked himself next to me and switched the tv on, sinking lower into his seat.
"Yeah, Tyler's picking me up," I replied and he rolled his eyes, taking another bite.
"Be careful around him," he offered his unnecessary advice. "I need to k-"
"You don't need to do anything, I'm not having this conversation with you," I made myself clear and stood up just as the doorbell rang. "Saved by the bell," I smiled at him sarcastically. "And put a bloody shirt on!" I ordered as I walked out.
"Okay, Mother!" he shouted back at me just as I reached for the door handle. I hastily opened it and was greeted by Tyler who looked as hot as ever. He was dressed in casual blue jeans and a white t-shirt, accompanied by a black leather jacket that I had never seen him wear before. Only he could make something so simple look that good.
"You're early," I said.
"Well, I can come back in ten minutes," he smirked, turning around and walking down the porch steps. I easily caught up and grasped his arm before he could make it any further.
"Are you sure you don't want to take Drew instead?" I laughed, making him turn a light pink shade. "Awe, you're blushing!" I teased, pinching his cheeks. He pushed my hands away and scrunched his face up, stomping off to the car.
I followed him and sat in the passenger seat, turning to face him instead of fastening my seatbelt. "Are we pulling a strop now?" I pouted childishly, nodding my head slowly. He chewed on the inside of his cheek as he tried to contain his laughter at my tone of voice and facial expression, completely failing since he bursted out laughing in the next second, setting me off too.
"You haven't had breakfast, right?" he asked me fifteen minutes into the drive and I shook my head. I wasn't very hungry. "Good."
He pulled into a small parking lot and switched the engine off, getting out and walking around to open my door for me. I walked by his side as we made our way to the entrance of the quaint little café which was situated in quite a remote area. Tyler held the door open and waited for me to enter before he did. "Tyler!" a middle-aged woman exclaimed when she saw him.
"Barbara!" he shouted, holding his arms out.
"I was wondering when we'd see you again!" she sped up and headed in our direction. Tyler smiled and gave her a big hug, then introduced me as his girlfriend.
"Girlfriend?" she looked surprised. "Jim, look who's here! Tyler and his girlfriend," she emphasised the last word.
Moments later, a man, who I assumed was Jim, appeared. He wiped his hands on the apron he was wearing and strode towards us. He reacted in a similar way as the woman and held his thumb up at Tyler, making the three of them chuckle. I uncomfortably cleared my throat and they noticed, giving me a warm smile. "Let's get you kids a table," Jim said and ushered us over to a table for two which was close to the kitchen, making my mouth water from the wonderful aroma of the food.
"You seem to know them quite well," I said once we were seated.
"Yeah, I come here often. Dad always brought me when I was younger," he smiled happily. Unfortunately the smile was instantly replaced by a look of anger and hurt. Thinking of how upset and betrayed he must feel because of his dad made my heart ache. "Anyway, what do you want?" he changed the topic to avert the conversation that could have occurred.
