Rae
I just had to face the fact that Ryder and I were only going to be friends and nothing more. I was FriendZoned. He didn’t even remember our kiss. But then again, why would I want him to? So he could just tell me that it was all one big mistake? Sometimes I was such an idiot. Why did I let that happen in the first place? The kiss gave me some kind of stirring in my stomach I couldn’t stop thinking about. I was so happy that school was almost over. Only one more week and then I am gone all summer with no Ryder and no drama. I was going to a camp full of crap, but I was mostly excited that it was for so long.
“Hey girl! So what are your plans once school ends?” Lexi asked running up from behind me.
“I’m going to a camp a few states away all summer long.” I told her smiling.
“Wow that sounds like fun! Do you know anyone going?”
“Nope, I guess I am going to be forced to make new friends.” I said laughing.
“Hey, maybe the drama will be better there!” she exclaimed.
“I can only hope! Hey we have to keep in touch OK?”
“Sure thing!” She said over her shoulder as she made her way to the bus. Being the second to last day of school Jake was probably in trouble for something dumb because the year was almost over. He had always done that, which meant that I had to ride the bus home. I didn’t mind that much as long as I had my music and headphones though.
When I stepped off the bus at my stop I went right to my room and pulled out my suit case. It may have been a week before my trip but I always got so excited for packing things.
“Rae honey, is that you?” My mom yelled from down stairs. I had forgotten to tell her I was home.
“Yeah mom! I am starting to pack for Camp!” I yelled back down to her. I got a piece of paper and a pencil out and started to write down what I needed. Half an hour later, I had half of my suit case filled. “Time for a break.” I said to myself as I ran downstairs.
The last day of school went by slow. Slower than any other school day; even the first day. I had been ignoring Ryder because it had seemed like the best thing to do. Once I had gotten home, I finished my packing and decided to take a nap since I only have six days to do nothing. Just as I closed my eyes, my phone went off.
Hey Girl! Schools out!!!! Sleep over at my house tonight! Come anytime!!:)
Lexi’s texts were always very excited. I looked at the clock. It was 1:45. I decided I would take an hour long nap and then go over to her house. I packed my bag before I went to sleep. When my mom came to wake me up, I jumped out of bed and took a quick shower. I got ready as fast as I could before asking my mom to drive me to Lexi’s.
When I got there, Lexi’s little brother, who was eight years old, was playing outside. He was drawing on the driveway with chalk. He had always had a big crush on me so I wasn’t surprised when I looked down and saw my name inside of a heart. It was drawn very sloppily and the heart looked more like a circle, but I knew his intentions.
“Hey Brian!” I said with a smile as I got out of the car.
“Hey Rae! I didn’t know you were coming over until later…” He said warily while trying to hide his picture. I smiled in response and went inside waving my mom goodbye.
“You’re here!” Lexi gleamed. “My mom said she would order pizza for dinner if that’s alright!” She already knew the answer. We always have pizza every time I am over here.
“Sounds great Lex! I will be right back.” I said over my shoulder while running upstairs. She followed behind me and sat on her bed.
“Wanna go shopping and then go to a movie? We can get some hot outfits to wear to the movies! We could go to a drive-in if you want!”
