Mark's POV

I reached into my pocket and took out the crumpled up piece of paper that lay in it as we walked back home. I unfolded it and studied the writing, it had Debbie's name written in fancy writing along with her phone number underneath. The 'I' was dotted with a small love-heart and there was another larger one at the end of her name. I shrugged and stuffed the paper back into my pocket before glancing over at Jack who was walking next to me. Something didn't seem right with him; he wore a frown and looked like he was in a state of deep thought. He had his arms folded as he ambled along, this was unlike him and it worried me. I hope he was just tired like he told me and nothing was bothering him. Then I had an idea that might cheer him up. I walked closer to him, folded my arms and imitated his grumpy expression. The green-haired man noticed what I was doing and I could tell he was trying to fight back a smile. He changed position and dropped his arms to his sides. Again I imitated him, but this time I rested my head on his shoulder and pouted. Finally, he broke and cracked a smile. This caused me to smile and let out a small chuckle. There has always been something about his smile, it's so contagious. I stepped away from him and began to walk normally again. Jack looked over at me, street lights glistening in his ocean blue eyes.

"Mark?", he said softly.

"Yeah?", I responded.

"You're such a fuckin' douchebag", he beamed.

"But you love me", I spoke proudly.

He hesitated for a moment. His eyes widened slightly, but they quickly softened and he grinned playfully.

"I suppose. Someone has to don't they?", he taunted.

I shook my head and pushed his shoulder lightly.

Soon enough we were back home. All four of us approached the front door and Ryan dug around in the pocket of his jeans for the keys. Once he'd found them he unlocked the door and pushed it open steadily. I heard the pattering of paws making their way to the door as we entered. "Chica! Who's been a good girl, huh? She's such a good pupper-snup", I cooed, making a fuss of the Retriever. Her tail lashed from side to side and she pranced next to me as I made my way to the kitchen. Matt made his way upstairs and called out goodnight to me, Jack and Ryan; we all called back and wished him the same in turn. I slid open the patio door and Chica scampered out into the garden. The lights from the city looked like a blanket of fireflies in the distance, it was so pretty. Chatter enacted from the hallway, I turned around to see Ryan and Jack entering the kitchen. Jack sat down on one of the kitchen chairs to check his phone, the bright light from the screen illuminating his face. I heard rustling coming from the cupboards and saw Ryan fishing out a packet of crisps.

"Come on man, seriously? You've JUST eaten", I grumbled, shaking my head.

"I don't care, I'm still hungry", Ryan asserted.

After he had got his snack he wished us goodnight and scurried upstairs.

"Goodnight", Jack and I chorused.

Chica bounded back into the house and trotted over to Jack. She sat beside him and pushed her muzzle under his arm. He peered over his arm noticing she was asking for attention and smiled softly. He began stroking the top of Chica's head gently. She rested her chin on his lap and her eyes began to close. The two of them looked so relaxed together and she had certainly taken a shine to Jack ever since he arrived. I let out a large yawn as I watched Chica gradually falling asleep. The Irishman followed suite and yawned, followed by a stretch. I looked at the clock; it was coming up to 11.15pm.

"I think we'd better get some sleep; it's been a long day. Don't want to be tired for Disneyland tomorrow do you?", I suggested.

Jack shook his head furiously. "No way", he said.

I gave Chica one last fuss before bed and fed her a biscuit from a bone shaped tin I had in my cupboard.

"Goodnight Chica-bica", Jack chirped, giving Chica a kiss on the head.

He wished me goodnight and made his way to the stairs.

"What? No goodnight kisses for me then?", I joked.

Suddenly Jack turned on his heels and started taking small steps towards me, not saying a word. I stopped dead in my tracks and my eyes grew wide. My back pressed up against the wall in the hallway and he came closer and closer. He placed his arms either side of me and began to lean in towards my ear. "Goodnight Mark", he whispered smoothly. It sent shivers up my spine and I felt my heart racing. He pushed himself away from my ear and blew a kiss. Then he let out a high pitched giggle before running up the stairs. "G-g-goodnight Jack", I stammered before he reached the top. I stood there in utter confusion, not so much from Jack's actions as he's just playing around, but my own. My heart was still racing and I felt weak at the knees. I couldn't understand it. 'Maybe I drank too much caffeine at the McDonalds?' I thought. I shook myself out of my thoughts and made my way upstairs to bed.
