Mark's POVI remained in the box for a moment, with a wide smile and my arms wide open eagerly awaiting Jack's next move. He was stood there with shock on his features. But it wasn't long before the Irishman lunged forward and embraced me. His grip on me was tight like he hadn't seen another human in a long time, just like when I picked him up at the airport to come to LA. This time was different as it was no longer awkward. I wrapped my arms around him, gently stroking his back to comfort him.
When Jack eventually did let go, he stepped backwards but kept his hands firmly placed on my arms. I noticed tears collecting in the corners of his eyes.
"God I've missed you", he whispered.
Those tears started to roll down his cheeks and he lowered his head.
Raising my hands to meet with his face, I gently wiped away the tears with my thumb and brought his eyes back up to look into mine. They glistened with longing and relief all at the same time.
"I've missed you too. That's why I just had to come. Sorry for springing it on you like this. I didn't mea-", I started apologising but was quickly interrupted by the touch of Jacks lips on mine.
"You don't have to apologise for anything. I'm just so happy that you're here", Jack beamed once our lips parted.Jack swiftly grabbed my bags from behind the box outside his door and took them into his room. We spent the rest of the day enjoying each others company and that's when I noticed something.
Jack began to change. He wasn't the teary, downhearted man that greeted me on those skype calls. He was his old self again, cheery and joyful. While we sat on his sofa watching TV, I studied him. I smiled to myself, seeing him happy made me happy.
"What are you gawking at?", Jack asked with a cheeky grin. I realised how strange it must have looked to just be staring at him like I was.
"Sorry, I just noticed how much happier you seem to be", I replied.
"You might have something to do with that", he beamed back at me.As time passed and the night drew in, I felt myself grow colder. Shivers emitted from my shoulders. I wasn't used to the colder, Irish climate. Jack seemed to notice. He leapt up from the chair and disappeared around the corner. When he returned a fluffy blanket lay across both his arms. Expecting him to just hand me the blanket, I was shocked when he lay next to me. Jack rested his head on my chest and covered us both with the blanket.
I was initially taken aback by this, it was all so new to me. But I smiled down warmly at him and rested my hand across his back.It wasn't long before I began to warm up with the help of Jack and the blanket. It wasn't just my body that felt warm but almost like my soul, my very core, was warmed too. I hadn't felt this content in a long time. I was thousands of miles from home but it didn't matter to me, because he was here. It was so strange to think I'd denied these feelings all this time. It seemed I wasn't the only one who was content as I heard the sound of light snoring. I bent forward slightly and looked downwards to see the Irishman was asleep. Simpering at him, I stroked his head, gently running my fingers through his dark brown hair. My head rested on the back of the sofa and it wasn't long before I was drifting off to sleep myself.
Sorry this is a short one - trying to get back into the swing of things!!
