Chapter 6: Prophecies and Destinies

Arswon stood before his troops on the hastily constructed stage. They had come so far since Fernando; they were now on the threshold of their first victory.

"Soldiers!" he addressed his troops, "Today, we are at the crossroads of greatness! We can choose to stay our humble selves, and allow the Triangle to continue to be a thorn in our side," the soldiers booed loudly, "Or we could finally exercise our greatness, and conquer!" he was forced to pause as cheers erupted in the crowd, "Yes, we have chosen to finally make ourselves known to the Triangle as a greater force than they could ever have imagined! We will make it known that we will not be pacified by false treaties and petty threats of wars! Tomorrow, we set sail to the Triangle!" the crowd went nuts and Arswon was forced to pause again for several minutes, "Now remember, if anyone sees the Revealer, aim to capture, not kill. We still need her in order to conquer Atlantis. The traitor, Mike is different; if you see him, kill first ask questions later,"

As the troops slowly streamed back from the assembly, a small figure, dressed all in black could have been seen fleeing towards the docks. If any of the soldiers had bothered to look, they would have stopped him. But alas, they did not.

And now someone would have to pay the price for his fury.

A weirder day Cassidy had never experienced whilst in the Triangle.

After the Queen spoke, Mike gave a wry smile, "Not even close to being done if it means I have to go back to work,"

Queen Clarence laughed, "I suppose we have overworked you. Welcome back and don't forget to report to me as soon as you feel better," she turned to Cassidy, Lindsey and Rose, "And I want you three to come with me. Now,"

As she was getting up to leave, Mike grabbed her hand suddenly, "Cassidy, wait. I wanted to thank you for helping me. I don't know how long I was lying there,"

"Why does Queen-" Cassidy questioned.

"I'll explain later. Or she will," he reached up and swiftly kissed her on the cheek before running off to his rooms.

Cassidy touched her cheek lightly, and blushed deeply. Mike was really something.

Queen Clarence escorted them to the throne room, where she sat them down before demanding to know what had happened.

Cassidy told most of the story, letting Rose and Lindsey fill in the details of their escape. When she reached the part about the riddle Cassidy gave her suspicions, "Your Majesty, is it possible that those three are actually Lindsey, Rose and I?"

"You can't hide it from them anymore," Mike said from the doorway. He addressed Cassidy, "I thought it might be you as soon as I saw you running. But I wasn't quite sure; you could just simply be fast. But I heard Arswon complaining about you and he was soaking wet. How you had just uttered a word, a sent water spraying all over his office. That's when I knew. I sent a message to the Queen, but it was intercepted. That's why I tried to get you alone for that picnic; to bring you to the Triangle before Arswon became aware of the riddle," he suddenly threw something towards the three of them.

Rose leapt into the air, higher than any human could have. Lindsey blocked it by muttering something and bringing a chunk of rock up. And Cassidy sent a wall of water to block it. The object, a knife, clattered to the floor, bent up and utterly useless.

Mike nodded in satisfaction, "Each of you has a certain control over each element. Rose has control over the air, Lindsey over the earth, and Cassidy over water. To control it, all you do is call for it by its Atlantian name,"

"What about fire?" Cassidy asked.

Mike's face darkened, "Listen carefully; fire is the enemy to all three of you. It taints the air with its poisonous smoke, scorches the earth in its path, and changes water to nothing more than steam. There is someone out there who controls fire, but we don't know who. If you should ever meet them, the only one who'll stand a chance is Cassidy, and that's only if you can conjure enough water,"

"Why us?" Lindsey asked quietly.

Mike shrugged, "Who knows? It's fate; nobody really understands why some things happen and some don't. We may never know,"

"That's quite enough," the Queen said, her voice deadly quiet, "You three are going to be put under the strictest confines. You'll have guards posted at all hours, you'll have a curfew-"

Lindsey tensed next to Cassidy, "No," she said quietly.

Queen Clarence paused, looking at her daughter, "What?"

"I said, no. I'm not five anymore, I have a mind of my own! You cannot control my every whim! I'm not going to put up with guards at my door, and I'm going to join the corps!" Lindsey was on her feet, her face beet red.

The Queen turned to Cassidy, Rose and Mike, "Would you excuse us for a moment?"

Mike escorted them out of the throne room, and into Cassidy's chambers. Turning to leave he said, "I suppose I can take first watch,"

As soon as he left, Rose looked at Cassidy, "Wow,"

"'Wow' is not the right word," Cassidy grimaced.

"Kinda makes me happy in a way though," Rose said thoughtfully.

"Why's that?"

"Well because I thought that as soon as I was sent home, you wouldn't tell me anything else because of some oath or to protect me. I've seen it a lot in books," Rose said, answering Cassidy's dubious look.

"Rose, you're my best friend! No matter what happens, you'll know. Besides, I need someone to talk to so that I don't go completely crazy,"

"Too late for that!" Rose said smiling.

Cassidy lightly punched her on the arm, when someone knocked on the door.

Mike poked his head in, "Cassidy, the Queen would like to speak with you,"

Bewildered, Cassidy followed Mike back into the throne room. Lindsey was gone, probably throwing a temper tantrum.

"Cassidy," The Queen began, "I've been informed of some troubling news. Arswon has proclaimed war on the Triangles and is on his way here. He'll be at our doorstep within a week. It has come to my attention that you are too valuable to lose in war. Which is why, as of right now, you are banned from it,"
