The Mission (Book Seven in the Aerlinniel's Secret Series)

Chapter 2: Thinking

Aerlinniel POV

"Sure, Legolas. What do you need?" I ask.

"Come with me." He replies and I follow him until we are away from everyone else.

"Legolas, is everything alright?" I ask him.

"Yes, everything is fine. I just have some thing that I would like to return to you." He tells me.

An Ellon walks up and I recognize the other heartbeat immediately. It is my horse! I run up to her and hug her.

"Thank you, Legolas!" I thank him.

"I tried looking for you so could give you your horse back. But, I could never find you. I would have checked at the Woodland-Realm, I just...I couldn't go back there." He admits.

"It is alright. You know, I tried looking for you too. I never knew until today if you were even alive or not." I tell him.

"Well, I will see you tomorrow. I am glad you are coming with us." He says to me and walks off before I can reply.

He is glad I am coming? I wonder why.

I give my horse back to the Ellon. Next I need to talk to Gandalf. It doesn't take me long to find him.

"Gandalf, I need to talk to you."

"What is it?" He asks.

"How did Frodo get the One Ring?" I question.

"Do you remember that ring that Bilbo found?"

"The one that could turn him invisible? That was the One Ring?" I ask, shocked.

"Yes, and he gave it to Frodo. He wouldn't part with it at first, but I finally convinced him." He tells me.

"Is that the voice of Aerlinniel that I hear?" A voice questions.

"Bilbo!" I shout happily.

I get down on my knees and I feel his arms wrap around me.

"It is so good to see you, Aerlinniel!" Bilbo says as we back out of the hug.

"It is so good to see you too! I would like to apologise for not being able to come to your birthday party." I apologise to him.

"I got, your letter. I understand why you were not able to come. At least I get to see you know. Will you be joining Frodo and the rest of them tomorrow?" He asks me.

"Yes, I will."

"Good, I feel much better knowing that you are going." Bilbo tells me.

I smile at him and stand back up, "It was nice seeing you, but there is someone else I need to talk to before getting some rest."

"Alright, hopefully I will see you soon." Bilbo says and gives me one more hug before I go.

I want to talk to Gimli, but I cannot seem to find him any where. Oh well, I will see him tomorrow. I can talk to him then. I need to try to get some rest.

For hours I try to fall asleep, but my mind won't stop buzzing with thoughts.

I think about what's going to happen tomorrow, what I want to say to Gimli, and a lot of other things. But mainly, I think about Legolas.

About how happy I am that he is alive and well. That, even though it is not under the best circumstances, I get to spend time with him. Hearing him today reminded me just how much I missed him.

As I think about Legolas, I fall asleep with a smile on my face.
