Aerlinniel POV

"Oh!" Gimli exclaims and I hear him run off. Where is he going?

"Gimli!" Gandalf calls after him but Gimli ignores him.

We all go after him. When we get there he is whispering, "No, no, no."

"Gandalf?" I question and he begins to read something.

"Here lies Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria."

"What?!" I say in shock.

"He is dead then. It's as I feared." Gandalf tells us.

Gimli starts to cry and I let a tear slip down my face. I cannot believe Balin is dead. I wonder when this happened?

"What is wrong with you, lassie? Why are you crying?" Gimli asks me, sounding a bit rude.

I am silent for a moment before answering, "I knew Balin. He was my friend. Same as your father, Gloin, and a lot of other Dwarves. I cannot believe Balin is dead."

"You-- you know my father? What is your name again?" Gimli questions me.

"Aerlinniel."

"Oh! You are the one who helped them get back the Lonely Mountain. And you saved my father and his brother. I was wondering if I would ever get to meet you, I've heard so many stories about you. And, I would like to thank ya for everything you have done to help them."

"It's no problem, Gimli. It was an honor to be able to help them and get to know them." I tell him, giving him a smile.

"We must move on, we cannot linger." Legolas warns us.

"They have taken the Bridge and the second hall." Gandalf begins to speak again, I think he is reading something. "We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long.  The ground shakes. Drums, drums in the deep. We cannot get out. A shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming."

When Gandalf finishes, there is a loud clanking and crashing noise. It stops after a couple of minutes. There is a few moments of silence before Aragorn and Boromir breathe a sigh of relief.

"Fool of a Took!" Gandalf shouts. "Throw yourself in next time, and rid us of your stupidity!"

"Gandalf..." I start to say but I stop when I hear a quiet drumming sound. It starts to get louder and louder

"Orcs!" Legolas states.

"Get back! and stay close to Gandalf." Aragorn shouts.

"Stay behind me and get out your sword out." Gandalf tells me.

"They have a cave troll!" Boromir says to us.

"Agh! Let them come There's one Dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath." Gimli shouts.

I hear a whole bunch of orcs coming. An orc screeches. The door gets broken down and the orcs run in. We fight off the orcs, I hear one come at me and I swing my sword at it.

I hear a loud roar. I am pretty sure that was the cave troll.  Two more orcs come at me and I start fighting them. One of them falls dead and I swing and hit the other one and it falls dead.

I continue fighting orcs as some of the others are trying to take down the cave troll. I hear Sam shout and I go over to him, he is being attacked by a few orcs. I kill one and I hear a loud wack.

Then Sam says, "Think I'm getting the hang of this."

I continue fighting alongside Sam.

"Frodo!" Sam shouts. "Frodo!"

"What happened? Is Frodo alright?" I ask Sam.

I don't know, the cave troll stabbed him with a spear." Sam tells me.

"Oh, no." I whisper.

Sam and I fight our way over to Frodo.

When we get there, I hear Sam breathe out a sigh of relief, "He's alive!"

"I'm alright. I'm not hurt." Frodo assures us.

"You should be dead. That spear would have skewered a wild boar." Aragorn states, shocked.

Gandalf says, "I think there's more to this Hobbit than meets the eye."

"Mithril! You are full of surprises Master Baggins!" Gimli explains.

Bilbo must have given Frodo the Mithril shirt that Thorin gave him.

"To the Bridge of Khazad-dûm." Gandalf directs us.

As we run out of this room, I hear thousands of orcs chasing after us. Eventually we are forced to stop because we are completely surrounded by orcs.

I then hear a great roar. It is definitely not an Orc, so what is it? Everything is silent and I hear the roar again, the orcs screech in terror and scatter.

"What is this new devilry?" Boromir asks.

"A balrog, a demon of the ancient world. This foe is beyond any of you. RUN!" Gandalf shouts.

We all run as fast as we can away from the balrog.

Sam grabs my arm and whispers, "There are stairs and there is no railing. I will help you."

"Thanks, Sam." I whisper back to him.

"Gandalf!" I hear Aragorn say.

"Lead them on Aragorn. The Bridge is near!" Gandalf commands him. "Do as I say! Swords are of no more use here."

We continue running and eventually come to a stop. I am about to ask why we stopped when Legolas yells, "Gandalf!"

I then hear arrows being shot. I listen for heartbeats to fins that there are a few orcs nearby.

"Merry! Pippin!" Boromir calls their names. I hear something break and fall.

"Sam." Aragorn shouts to him.

"There is a gap in the stairs, we have to jump across." Sam tells me and grabs on to me. I take a breath and jump, we barley make it to the other side.

"Nobody tosses a dwarf!" I hear Gimli tell Aragorn from the other side. "Not the beard!"

Aragorn and Frodo are the only ones still on the other side. For a while, they don't come over. Then I hear Aragorn yell.

"Steady! Hold on!" I hear a loud roar again and more of the stair fall. "Hang on! Lean forward!"

"Come on!" Legolas shouts to them.

They finally jump over as even more of the stair falls. We continue on running down the steps until we finally reach the bottom.

"Over the Bridge! Fly!" Gandalf commands us.

Sam helps me over the bridge, holding onto my arm tighter. We stop when we get to the other side.

"You cannot pass!" Gandalf shouts. Is he talking to the balrog.

Frodo then yells, "Gandalf!"

"I am the Servant of the Secret Fire. Wielder of the Flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you. Flame of Udûn! Go back to the shadow!" Gandalf shouts, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

I hear a loud hit and then Boromir says, "No!"

"Gandalf!" Frodo calls his name

"Fly you fools!" Gandalf tells us. What does he mean?

"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Frodo screams.

"What-- what just happened?" I ask Sam, I am scared to ask, but I need to know. He doesn't say anything and he starts to drag me out. "Sam?"

"Gandalf...he fell. He's gone, I'm sorry." Sam tells me, sadly.

Gandalf's gone?!
