"Remind me what his name is," I ask as I watch him approach the pacifying waves while simultaneously drenching my own skin in sunblock. Tanning is out of the question for me, but I'd much rather be as white as paper than be the tomato looking ass.

"Kai," Athena says with admiration in her voice. She's fond of him.

"What's he like?" I ask before squirting more paste onto the palm of my hand.

"For once in your life, stop asking intimate questions!" she intones.

"I meant as a person, you loser," I say doggedly.

"Oh shit," she laughs it off. She's not embarrassed, she never is.

"He's a good one," she commends knowingly.

"He has a nice back," I observe. My eyes glue to his muscular back, which is empty in comparison to the rest of his tattoo embed body.

"So what's the deal between you two anyway?" I close the bottle cap and wipe my oily hands off on a towel, Athena's I think.

"I don't know," she claims plainly, causing me to scoff.

"I can see right through you, big shot. You like him," I detect.

"You think so?" she plays dumb, twirling an already curly strand of hair.

"Is he the reason you're acting all strange?" I say.

I begin pulling off my coverup, showcasing a matching, plain black binki set. It makes my pasty skin even lighter, I love being goth!

"I'm not acting strange," she dejects.

"Are you going to negate everything I say?" I quip.

"Not at all," she grins.

"Where did he go?" I yelp.

"He's right there, Vera," Athena points a few feet to our left.

"Oh damn, my bad," I saw lowly under my breath.

Kai was already dripping in sea water, and though the water only reached a little below his hips - right by his willy, actually, if you can picture that, his upper body was glistening with water droplet.

When he finally notices us come from behind, I see his eyes subtly scan Athena's entire body, and she faintly smiles.

After a couple minutes, Kai dunks Athena under water, and she quickly takes a breath before submerging under the water. Of course, they splash each other, and Kai, being so much larger, picks Athena up, and again, throws her into the water. All while, I'm squinting, all due to the sun, enjoying the warm water, a few feet away from them.

I decide now that they're cute together, and that I'm rooting for them. On paper, they're perfect, but the real chemistry is right in front of me.

We stay in the water until the sky turns pink, before returning to shore.

When we reach our area, I instantly wrap a towel around myself, and Athena and Kai, stand awkwardly, dripping wet.

"Why are you just, uh, standing?" I ask suspiciously.

"We've only brought one towel, and it's, well, full of sand now," Clyde says.

I've stooped to calling them by the names of murderers, as I almost murdered them when they got my hair all wet.

"Vera," Bonnie says in a sweet, cheery voice. I stop her right there. I hate sweet and cheery.

"Er-, leh' me stop you right there," I grip my towel tighter. Don't even think about it, Bon.

"Well, come on! You're almost dry!" she pleas.

I take a deep breath, close my eyes, and hand her the towel.

"Thank you!" she says, sadistically, in my opinion.

"Oh, and I need a ride," I say, which I forgot to mention earlier.

Once everyone has their clothes on, we head towards the parking lot.

We stop in front of a white jeep. Woah.

"Here," Kai tosses the keys to Athena, which she surprises me by catching.

"Oh my God- Kai, I can't drive this.." well shoot..

"I can," I volunteer, taking the keys from Athena.

I get in the driver's seat, Athena in the passenger, and Kai in the back.

I put the key in the ignition, but remember something before I reverse.

"You have insurance for this car, don't you?" I inquire. He nods. Good then.
