"Jungkook, sweetie. A new family is moving in next door." I nod my head, not listening. She sighs. I'm too busy playing my video game to care. She walks out of my room and probably out to the porch to relax. I do kind of wonder who the new family is. I hope there's not a girl who'll have a crush on me. I don't feel like breaking another heart. Yes, the girls love me. I'm not even that good-looking. At least, I personally feel that way. If you're wondering, I'm gay.

Next day
My mom comes into my room while I'm still asleep. She yells to get me up, "Ya! Get up. We're going to go greet the new neighbors. Get ready.. I baked them a cake to welcome them. You'll get some if you get up." I groan but open my eyes, being blinded by the lights immediately. I didn't really want cake, I mostly just didn't want to hear her complain about how lazy I am. I got up and took a shower. While getting dressed, I brush my teeth. (multitask-er)
Sighing, I come downstairs to find my mom putting the finishing touches on the cake. "Mom, I'm ready." She looks up and smiles, "You look nice, for once." I roll my eyes. I open the fridge and down some orange juice right out of the carton. "Jungkook, how many times have I told you not to drink out of the carton? It's not sanitary," she glared at me. I ignore her and grab an apple and eat it.
"Alright, Jungkook. Let's go." She walks out the door and I follow slowly behind. She knocks on their door and a familiar lady opens it. I'm still in front of our house as she greets my mother. I'm too busy thinking about what the family is like. Will they hate me because they're conservative? Do they hate gays?
Ugh, whatever. I catch up to my mom, "Ah Jungkook, nice to see you," our neighbor greets me. I smile politely, "It's nice to meet you too." My mom spoke up, "We brought you a freshly baked cake." She hands it over. The lady takes it, "Oh, my son will just love this. Jungkook, why don't you go find him, he's out in the backyard." Ugh, a little kid. I nod and head out the door. I make my way around the house into the backyard. A boy, small, but... not young is playing with something.
"Hey, kid your mom wants you," is all I could think to say. He turns around, a bit startled. He looks my age, he looks familiar. "Are you.. are you Kim Taehyung?" I ask out of the blue. He tilts his head to the side, "Yes.. and you are?" I freeze, did my face change that much? "I'm Jeon jungkook.. Your best friend from kindergarten to 3rd grade?" He still looked confused. "I'm sorry but I don't know you at all." My heart broke. I didn't know what to say, so I just walked back to my house and into my room.
Taehyung-
Some weird guy said that we knew each other. He might've known me, but I never heard of him or saw him in my life. Or at least, that I remember. I came inside to find my mom and a lady sitting on the couch talking. "Taehyung,...where did Jungkook go?" My mom asks. I shrug, "Home maybe?" She looks at me and then her eyes wonder off to something else. "Well... Do you want some cake? Mrs. Jeon brought us a nice strawberry cake." I nod excitedly and follow my mom to the kitchen.
"I better go check on Jungkook. I'll see you tomorrow!" She waved good-bye and left. "Mommy, Jungkook was weird. He said he knew me? But, how?" My mom sighed, "Sweetie, you and him used to be best friends. I even have pictures of you two when you were younger."
Jungkook-
I almost cried.. ALMOST. My mom was knocking on my door, "Go away mom.. Please just leave me alone for a bit." She stopped and I heard footsteps walking away from my door. I fell asleep thinking about me and Taehyung. Back when we were so small.
~~
Waking up to the smell of pancakes, I get up out of bed. I remember yesterday and frown to myself. It's been like nine or ten years. That's a long time, I get how he forgot me.. why didn't I forget him? I forgot him until yesterday seeing him. Wouldn't it be the same with him?..
Whatever. I get up and walk into the dining room. Surprisingly, I woke up early enough to see my father. "Son, good morning. First time I've seen you this early in a week or two." I wave at him a bit, still sleepy, and sit at the table. My mom plops a few pancakes onto my plate and I add some syrup to them. My dad is already half way done with his. "So, who are our new neighbors?" He asks my mom. "They're the Kims, the ones with the boy Jungkook grew up with. Taehyung." My dad raises an eyebrow, "Really now? I wonder how Mr. Kim is doing."
With that, I get up with a fourth of my pancakes still soaking in the syrup on the plate. My mom takes it and does whatever. I hear my father, "What's up with him? Shouldn't he be happy his best friend is back?" Yes, I should be. "I guess Taehyung doesn't remember him." My dad wonders, "How? Jungkook remembered him." My mom sighs, "I don't know."
I sigh and get dressed, getting ready for a walk. I leave the house and walk around town a bit.
Third Person-
Taehyung's mother came over a few minutes after Jungkook left. She knocked on the door. Mrs. Jeon opens the door. "Hello. Is something the matter?" Mrs. Kim shakes her head, "No. Could I have a talk to you and your son? Whenever." Mrs. Jeon nods, "Of course, I'll get him." She leaves the door and checks for her son, not finding him, she comes back. "He's not here right now." Mrs. Kim nods, "Okay.. Well when ever you feel like it, come over so we can talk. It's important."
