Her knuckles turned white as she gripped the steering wheel, battling the sleep that would soon take over.
Her eyes shut, but only for a second.
But it was one second too many.
Horns broke the silence, screaming like a banshee on a winter's night.
Shards of the windscreen flew into her as she collided with the incoming vehicle.
She lifted her head, unable to open her left eye due to a sudden swelling on that side of her face. Defenseless, she slowly turned to the side, pain throbbing throughout her limp body.
The second car raced towards her.
She tried to scream, but only a hoarse groan escaped her throat.
The only sound she could hear over the pounding in her ears was the squeal of brakes as the second car slid into her.
She felt nothing.
