Chapter 14
He fell into step beside me, grabbing my arm and pulling me to a stop. I whirled around and lifted my hand to send it flying in his direction, but his other hand gripped my fist. I grunted and yanked my body away from him, anger and hurt guiding my actions. “Get away from me, Saxon!” I yelled, my hands shaking.
“That wasn’t what you thought you saw, Scarlett!” He said, stepping toward me again as if he had the right. “Just let me explain.”
I laughed out loud and shook my head. “No. You don’t owe me an explanation. You don’t owe me anything, and I don’t owe you a damn thing. Let’s just go our separate ways here, and never talk to each other again.” I smiled bitterly and turned on my heel, making my way down the street. I could hear his footsteps behind me, and I just had to roll my eyes at him.
“So tell me why you are so angry that I was with her! I don’t understand your problem.” He called out. Those words brought me to a halt and my hands curled into fists once more. I quickly resumed walking, ignoring him. “God damn it, answer me, Scarlett!” He yelled, and I wheeled around, not caring that the people in the streets were watching.
I stared at him, eyes stinging with the angry tears that threatened to fall. “I owe you nothing. I thought when this arrangement was made, you would be with no other woman while the proposal was in place. But I was wrong. It doesn’t matter anymore. I do not want to go through with this, and I do not want your money.”
“I don’t understand! Why are you so angry about this? It wasn’t like I was fucking her.” He said, throwing his hands up in exasperation. “She kissed me and I forgot myself for a moment. I am sorry about what you saw, but it didn’t mean anything.”
I scoffed and walked away from him. “I don’t care. I am done.” His arms wrapped around my waist from behind and pulled me against his hard body.
“Could it be that you have begun to fall for me? Is the thought of me being with another hurting you?” He whispered into my ear, causing me to shiver and almost push back against him. “You can tell me, Scarlett. I will not judge you.”
I hesitated, but only for a moment. “Yes, Saxon. I have begun to fall for you. But none of that matters anymore. I am leaving.”
“No. I don’t want you to leave…” He said, tightening his hold on me. “I want you. I messed up when I kissed Tanja back, but I do want you. I may not be in love with you, but maybe I could be eventually.”
I chuckled dryly, unamused. “Perhaps, but maybe it is best if you don’t. I don’t want you anymore. Not after what I just saw.”
“But we weren’t even actually together, Scarlett. I didn’t know if you wanted to be with me. If I had known, I would have never put my hands on her. I promise you.” He turned me around, with his hands on my shoulders, staring me in the eyes.
I bit my lip, tears spilling down my face. “Can I trust you?” I croaked, gently placing my hand on his cheek. “How do I know that you will not find a… submissive woman to be with since I cannot give you my submission?”
“Where did that question come from?” He asked, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. “Why would you ask me if you weren’t enough?”
I shook my head. “I didn’t ask that.”
“No, but it was implied.” He said, pushing my hair out of my face and kissing my lips briefly. I sobbed and leaned into him, feeling so much all at once that I couldn’t focus on what mattered. “I don’t need to dominate my women, but it is preferred. If you truly cannot take it, then I will simply leave your submission out of the equation.”
I sobbed harder, clutching at his leather vest. “But I can’t trust you not to be with other women. Our arrangement is nothing permanent and will end soon. If I decide to continue this.” I whispered in between sobs.
“I promise you that I will not even look at another woman. I just wish you had told me you had feelings for me before all of this.” He said, pulling away quietly and cupping my cheeks. “If I had known… If you had told me.”
I laughed as he wiped my cheeks free of tears. “You could have just asked.”
“Saxon! Are you coming back inside?” The girl, Tanja, asked as she approached us. Her blue eyes widening when she saw our embrace. “Who is she?”
Saxon looked uncomfortable for a moment, but pulled me tighter. “This is my fiance. I am sorry, Tanja, but I shouldn’t have kissed you back. I knew when it happened that it was wrong. I am with Scarlett, and I will only be with her.”
“Blake was right about you! You have grown weak. Submissive. You are going to let your feelings for this whore control who you fuck? When we were together, I let you fuck woman after woman. I did not care.” She said, stepping closer to us and narrowing her eyes. I could feel the hatred in her woods. “You deserve a girl who will serve you the way you need to be served.”
He held up his hand. “You do not know what you are talking about. I am not with Scarlett because of my sexual desires. She is kind and genuine, not at all like the subs and slaves that walk through those doors. She is more than you could ever be.”
“But she is not what you need. I can serve you so well, Sir. Let me devote myself to you again, like last time. I will take better care of you. I swear.” She went to touch his arm but he pushed her away. “Sir.”
He shook his head and led me toward where his car was parked in front of the club.”No, Tanja. I am with Scarlett and I want no one else. Goodbye.” I could hear the anger in his voice, but chose to ignore it. He sighed when we got to his car and away from Tanja. “We can talk more when we get back to my parents’. I have to get away from here before I seriously hurt someone.”
