Chapter 22
Saxon rubbed my shoulders and pressed his lips against my neck, chuckling to himself quietly. I turned my head and looked at him. “What?” He shrugged and pressed his lips against mine, lingering for a moment.
“I love you. I really love you.” He whispered against my lips before pulling away again. “I’m just glad that you and I can finally just relax. We should spend the next few days just laying around, being lazy… And naked.”
I laughed, still feeling a little uneasy from the scare we had with the baby the night before. I leaned into Saxon, sighing softly. “What if I don’t want to be naked?”
“You don’t want to be naked? Really? What if I did this…?” He trailed his hand down from my shoulder towards my breast, cupping it gently. I inhaled sharply, clenching my thighs together. “Oh? Someone liked that.”
I shivered and arched into his hand, moaning quietly. “Saxon…” He kissed my lips roughly again. I leaned back against him and sighed.
“Just relax. I’ve got you, baby…”

I sat up in bed, staring at the clock. It was already four o’clock in the morning and I was ready to go to sleep. But it never came. I couldn’t stop thinking about my sister, and Weston. What had he done to her? Why was she so angry? What had he told her? I loved Ashley to death, and I just could understand why she would do something like that to me.
“Scar?” I heard Saxon groan as he stretched. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my arm. “What’s wrong?”
I looked down at him and smiled a little. “I just can’t sleep. I have too much on my mind.”
“Oh. Do I need to distract you again?” His eyes twinkled and I couldn’t help but smile. I shook my head. “Seriously, baby, what’s wrong?”
I stared back down at my hands. “I keep thinking about Ashley, and what I did wrong. I can’t help but feel sorry for her, but a bigger part of me hates her. If it hadn’t been for her, I wouldn’t have been selling myself on the street. I could have gone to school and gotten an education.”
“But you wouldn’t have met me.” He whispered. He pulled me in close to his body until I was laying down in his arms again and he was spooning me from behind. “You just need to let it go. You can’t change it, so you shouldn’t drive yourself crazy trying to think of ways that you can. Just let me love and protect you, okay?”
I nodded, turning in his arms so that I could kiss him gently. “Please, make love to me. Make this go away.”
“Are you sure? If you are upset, I don’t want you to think you have to do this.” I didn’t answer him. He sighed and pulled me closer. “Scar, baby, quit worrying your pretty little head.”
I turned to smile sadly at him. “I’m trying. I don’t think you understand how much I am trying. I just can’t help but wonder where I went wrong. Will I mess up our child too?”
“Don’t ever say that to me again.” He said, narrowing his eyes as he cupped my chin. “You will be a wonderful mother. You didn’t mess Ashley up. She fucked herself up.”
“I just feel like I could have done something to prevent this!”
He tilted my face upwards. “Don’t you start that with me. I will bend you over my lap and blister that sexy little ass of yours.” I just laughed, even as tears spilled down my cheeks.
“How can you do that? Make me feel better even when I am determined to feel like shit?”
He smiled and kissed me softly. “It’s because I love you.”
Saxon embraced me and stroked my hair until I was finally tired enough to fall asleep. I had never felt more at peace. More at home.
