There's something sweet
About the way you smile at me
Like we have a secret only we know
Or with the way you share your chocolate with me
There's something familiar
With you letting me crash on your couch
Or you knowing how exactly I like my coffee
There's something terrifying
About the way the angry yelling sound sharper behind the closed door of my room
Or the sound of glass shattering that wakes me up at night
There's something comforting
About the soft pattern of the rain against my window
Or with the way your warm palms can relieve the tension from my shoulders
There's something unnerving
About being so dependent on someone other than myself
But there's also something redeeming
With letting go and stop trying to be so strong all the time, even only before this one person
There's something funny
About saying I hate the whole world
Or about thinking that I'm done for good
Only to have someone change all this seemingly without even trying
There's something sad and endearing
About seeing you cry like a little kid when you're drunk
Or for once having our roles reversed and getting you to open up and show your broken self
When everyone things you're this golden boy that has it all easy
There's something satisfying
With the way your fingers interlace with mine and fill all the gaps
Or with how you can hear me rambling about my favourite books
Without telling me to shut up even once
There's something special
With the way my head fits in the crook of your neck
Or your lips kiss away the sadness and make me sound so cliche' when I try to express my feelings
There's something devastating
With watching your retreating back as you walk away
Or with the intensity your words still resonate off of my very bones
There's something maddening
About being alone
And it's worse knowing that I had something precious and I let it slip right through my fingers
There's something...until there's nothing at all
