It's okay to lose yourself
But not in the crevices of your mind
Not in the coldness of the blade
and the warmness of the blood trickling down your wrist
It's okay to lose yourself
In the beat of a song
Or the cadence of a voice
Lose yourself in a beautiful landscape
In the sense of tranquility washing over you
Or in the eyes of someone who only shows you love and admiration
Lose yourself in the soft sweep of the brush
In the scratching of pen on paper
Or in the plains and lines of a beloved face
Don't lose yourself in the cruelty but in the beauty
The appreciation and not the disdain
The soft whisper and not the loud cry
Lose yourself, but never lose who you are
