Chapter 34
Aurora POV
As I glanced down at the 10 year old playing sitting at the table I couldn't help but sigh. She was getting so big already because she ages the same way as humans which is probably a good thing for us because there is a time difference between our realm and the human realms. For every 10 years here only one shall pass in theirs; Pain in the ass when you decide to take a holiday.
Another few months in Antoria time and it will be time for Izzy to participate in the naming ceremony where she will get her wings. I wonder if she can actually get wings? I couldn't help but sigh. They gave me a damn human as a charge and not even an ordinary human, they said i would learn something from this unique being but I haven't learnt anything other than I know nothing. I'm 180 years old way too young to be a parent and I'm stuck with a bloody kid. I seriously wish I hadn't tee peed the Elder's house because looking back on it, it seriously wasn't worth the hassle. Now I'm stuck with a kid and on probation for the next decade until Izzy officially becomes part of our society even though she's probably got more brains than all of the elders put together, stupid old coots. Can't wait for the Illumination Ceremony when new elders will be selected but that's not for another decade or two, so for now I will have to make do with these bloody idiots.
I walked over to one of the elder idiots again to pose my argument. See for as long as I've been the guardian of her, I have been fighting for them to listen to what she has to say, because although she looks young, I can tell she has greater knowledge than I can ever possibly imagine.
"Roman." I said bowing my head and bending my knee so that I was literally bowing in front of him.
"What is it now Aurora?" He sighed with resignation. God these old people are just so damn rude, they think they know everything and are so stuck in their ways, thinking they know everything, well sorry to disappoint you father but you know nothing. Yes you heard me, Elder Roman is my father, not that he was ever a very good one.
"Roman I advice that you take heed of the foreigners words, i along with the others detect no lie in her words and if what she speaks is the truth, we could all be in grave danger. Yet time and time again you refuse to listen." I practically shouted at his losing an attempt at patience, it just doesn't get anywhere and the anger makes me feel better so why not use it. My father didn't even flinch he just sat there looking bored.
"I told you, she knows nothing she is a child."As he shifted in his chair wincing slightly as he stretched his aged wings. Izzy being the intuitive one and sensing the argument came over and held onto my hand.
"You're sick." She said innocently looking up at my father though her adorable eyes which were now blue. It is the strangest thing, I have seen her eyes change colour a multitude of times, when though I can never work out what it means. The little girl whose hair was hanging loosely around her waist walked over to my father and climbed up on his lap without his permission. "You look like my grandpa, well before he died to save my mum. He was a good man. I was too late to save him, but you, I can save, you try to hide you illness behind old age but you are dying." She said tilting her head to the side. I watched as my father's eyes widened obviously startled, if it wasn't for the shock of what she said I would have laughed.
"Don't worry Elder Roman, this doesn't hurt, well it won't hurt you." She reached up her little tattooed hand and placed it on his cheek. I watched in awe as my father's skin lost its sickly pallor and once again took on that bronzed hue that I hadn't seen for about 100 years. When Izzy hopped off of his lap she looked a little paler but she still had a huge grin on her face. "There all better now. Can we go and play now? I want to see Jay and Nicky." She said with a pout.
I smiled at her. "Of course we can." I turned back to my dad who still looked dazed. "Dad are you OK?" Forgetting to call him Elder Roman as concern overrode any grudge I held.
"Amazing, our healers said I was a lost cause and this little one makes it all go away with one touch, absolutely incredible."
"I told you she was special." With that I turned away from the old man and took her tattooed hand in mine and left the old coot to mull things over.
