This past week has been long. I haven't seen Janie since the day Kyle attacked her. We've talked on the phone and texted, but it's not the same. Her and Daniel have been busy trying to clean up the house. Grayson and I have been busy planning ideas for this wedding. It's a lot of work. Grayson seems to be more excited than I am. It's not that I'm not excited. It's just the fact that it's so tiring.

We all agreed to go out for pizza today, for lunch. I'm just waiting for Grayson to get back from whatever he had to do.

"Hey, sweet pea." Speak of the devil.

"Hey. Did you get what you had to get?"

"Yep. Ready to go?"

"Yeah."

He takes my hand and leads me out to his car. He gets in and pulls out of his driveway. We head to the local pizza joint. When we pull up, I see Janie and Daniel waiting by his car for us.

Grayson has barely parked the car when I jump out. I take off running towards my best friend.

"I missed you so much, Janie!"

"I missed you too!"

"Could you girls be any louder?"

"Shut up, Daniel." I punch him in his arm playfully and give him a quick hug.
Grayson walks up, gives Janie a hug, and shakes Daniel's hand.

We all make our way into the pizza place. We find an empty booth to sit in. The waitress comes soon after to take our drink orders. When she leaves, we start up a conversation about what we've been doing this past week.

Pretty soon, the waitress is back with our drinks. We order two large pizzas. Janie and I get a pepperoni. Daniel and Grayson order a meat lovers' pizza. Men.

Once our food arrives, we dig in. About a minute later, Grayson stands up. He pulls me to the edge of the booth. What is he up to?

"Lacey, you mean so much to me. This whole marriage ordeal only made me admit that to myself. Now it's time I admit that to you. I don't want to lose you. You're the best thing that has come into my life. When I first saw you, I knew I'd never be able to love anyone else. I know that we're already somewhat engaged." He gets down on one knee and pulls a small box out of his pocket. He opens the box, revealing the prettiest engagement ring I have ever seen. "What do you say about making this engagement official?"

I feel the tears streaming down my face. "Yes!!"

He places the ring on my finger, and then kisses me. "You're the only one for me, sweet pea."

"You're the only one for me."

Janie and Daniel get up to congratulate us. "Oh my gosh! My best friend is getting married! Lacey, you're getting married!"

"I know! I can't wait! You have to be my maid of honor."

"Of course. This is going to be so much fun!"

Daniel comes to give me a hug. "Congratulations, Lacey."

"Thank you."

After some of the excitement has died down, we sit back in the booth to finish our pizza. Once we've finished, we decide to go for ice cream. We head outside and walk to the nearest ice cream parlor.

Walking inside, I spot Cynthia and Jeremy with Kaylie, their granddaughter. That would be just my luck.

"Lacey!" Kaylie comes running up to me. I get down so I can be level with her. I open my arms for her to run into. "I missed you." She's just so sweet.

"I missed you too. How have you been?"

"Good. You should come hang out with me!"

By now Cynthia has walked over to us. I see her and Kaylie eying my ring. "Where'd you get the ring? It's really pretty."

"Do you remember Grayson?" I point to him and she nods. "He gave it to me a little bit ago."

"Why?"

"Well, I'm going to marry him."

"That's so cool!"

"Yeah, it is."

"So, are you gonna come hangout with me tonight?"

"Tonight?"

"Yeah!"

Now Cynthia speaks up. "Yeah. I'll make y'all a celebratory supper. Janie and Daniel can come too. What do you say?"

"It's up to Lacey." Daniel and Janie nod in agreement.

"We'll be there."

"Yay!" Kaylie gives me another big hug. "I can't wait!"

"Me either."

When I look back up, I see that Jeremy has walked over. By the scowl on his face, I can tell he doesn't like the idea of me marrying Grayson. I don't really care. It's my life, not his.

"Come on, girls. We have to go." I give Kaylie one last hug and stand up to hug Cynthia. They leave and we walk up to the counter. After we've all ordered, we sit at one of the open tables.

Five minutes later, we're all on our way to get ready to go to Cynthia's. Before I can escape to take a shower, Grayson stops me. "Sweet pea, are you sure you wanna do this? We don have to go."

"Yes we do. I promised Kaylie. Plus, what is Jeremy gonna do? Say we can't get married in front of Cynthia? It'll be fine."

"What if he gets one of us alone?"

"Let's just make sure that doesn't happen."

"Alright." He gives me a quick kiss. "You can go get ready now."

"Okay. I'll be out soon."

I walk through the bedroom to the bathroom. I turn on the shower and strip off my clothes. Hopping in the shower, I quickly wash my face, scrub my body, and wash my hair. I turn off the water and hop out. I wrap a towel around my body and wrap my hair in one as well.

I walk back into the bedroom towards the closet. I pull out a pair of jeans and a strapless shirt. I then head over to the dresser. I open the drawer where my bras and panties are. I pull out a matching set and walk over to the bed. I throw my clothes down and begin to actually dry my body. Once I'm done, I get dressed.

I then head over to my makeshift make-up table. I pull out my brush, blow dryer, and curler. I haven't curled my hair in a while, so I figured tonight would be a good time to do it.

Once I'm ready, I head back into the living room. I see Grayson sitting in the recliner. I walk up to him. "Hey."

He looks up. "Hey, sweet pea. Nice outfit."

"Thanks." He pulls me onto his lap. "Are you sure you wanna go tonight? I say we just stay in bed."

"As tempting as that is, I already told Kaylie I would come. I don't want to break her heart."

"Fine." He gives me a long, passionate kiss, leaving us both breathless. "Damn, woman. You take my breath away."

"Right back at you." I give him another kiss.

"I need to go get ready."

"Then go. I'm a little uncomfortable now, anyways."

"Looks like I'll be taking a cold shower now."

I blush and quickly get up. I know exactly what he's talking about.

He gives me one last kiss before heading to the bedroom. I sit on the couch and scroll through Facebook until he's done.

An hour later, we're sitting in the driveway at Cynthia's.

"You ready, sweet pea?"

"Yeah."
