Sorry guys. There won't be a sequel. However, I did decide to do a couple of bonus chapters for Janie and Daniel. Enjoy reading!!
Two years later
Daniel's P.O.V.
These past two years have been great. I met Janie. She's the light of my world. I love her so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with. That's why I'm going to propose to her tonight. It's going to be perfect.
We're gonna go see Carrie Underwood at the Grand Ol' Opry. Janie is in love with her. Sam Hunt, Keith Urban, and Dierks Bentley are also going to be there. Then we're gonna go out to dinner at her favorite restaurant. I've booked us a private room. It's going to be so special.
"Hey, honey."
"Hi, sweetheart. You excited about tonight?"
"Yes. I can't wait. I get to go the Grand Ol' Opry and with the man I love."
"I love you too." I give her a sweet, tender kiss.
"I'm going to go get ready." She gives me another kiss.
"Okay."
While she's getting ready, I text Grayson. I want to make sure him and Lacey are still coming tonight. I know they were having problems with their babysitter. He texts back letting me know they got everything sorted out. They got Cynthia and Jeremy to take the three kids for the night.
Janie comes back into the living room wearing a dark blue strapless dress that stops right above her knees. She looks stunning. There's just enough make-up to make her eyes pop.
"You're looking gorgeous as always." She blushes just like she always does.
I get up and give her a quick kiss. "I'll be out soon."
"Alright." I kiss her again and go into our bedroom.
I walk into our adjoining bathroom to take a shower. When I'm done, I wrap a towel around my waist and head back into the bedroom. I pull out a pair of boxers from the top dresser drawer. I pull out a pair of khaki pants and a light blue button up shirt.
I then head over to Janie's closet. I reach into the top to pull out the box of clothes that she's going to donate. It's the least likely place to put an engagement ring. I place the ring box in my pocket and leave the bedroom.
"Ready, baby?"
"Yeah."
I grab her hand and we walk outside to my car. I open the door for her. I get in on my side and we make our way to the Grand Ol' Opry.
We park and make our way to the front door. I see Lacey and Daniel waiting for us. Janie squeals and runs up to Lacey. She didn't know they were coming.
"Woah. Slow down, Janie."
"Sorry. I keep forgetting you're three months pregnant."
"You're not the only one." She glares at Grayson.
"Sorry, sweet pea."
"Sure."
"You look lovely, Lacey." She blushes at my compliment. "I really don't get why you two women blush every time we compliment you. We're only telling the truth."
"I don't get it either."
"You have to excuse us. We're not used to being complimented."
"It's been more than two years. You should be, sweet pea. You too, Janie."
They just roll their eyes. "We should go take our seats."
They all agree. We make our way inside and to our seats. We have seats in the third row.
"Daniel, I can't believe you got seats this close. It's amazing."
"Anything for you, baby."
She leans in for a kiss.
Pretty soon, her and Lacey are singing every song the artists are singing. It's amazing how some people can sing for so many minutes straight without having to take a breath. I'm not one of those people, and apparently, neither is Grayson.
After the show, we all head outside. Grayson and Lacey are getting ready to leave.
"We have to go. I want to spend as much time alone with him as I can. We don't get a lot of time to ourselves with our children, if you know what I mean." She winks at Grayson.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow?" Janie hugs Lacey.
"Definitely." She winks at me over Janie's shoulder.
They pull apart and Lacey pulls Grayson towards their car. They're so in love.
"Let's go, baby. I have a surprise for you."
"Okay."
I take her hand and lead her to our car. I open her door for her. I'm trying to be a perfect gentleman for her tonight.
Once I'm in, I start driving to her favorite restaurant. When we park, I look over at her. There's a huge smile on her face. She looks over at me.
"You're serious? We're eating here?"
"Yes."
She squeals. I think it's safe to say she's excited.
I get out and go around to her side. I open the door and help her out. She takes my hand and we walk in the restaurant.
The maitre^d^ walks up to us. "How may I help you?"
"Reservation for McCarthy."
"Of course. Right this way."
He leads us through the crowd of people. I look over to Janie and see confusion on her face. That confusion soon turns to a huge smile when we enter our private room. The room is dimly lit. There's a couple of candles on our table. It's exactly how I asked them to do it.
"You did this for me?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"I love you."
She throws her arms around my neck and gives me a kiss. "I love you too."
We sit down at our table. I, of course, pulled out her chair for her and pushed her up to the table. I then take my seat across from her.
We order our drinks, and shortly after, our food. Once we're done eating, we order dessert. While we're waiting, I decide it's time to propose.
I get out of my chair and walk over to her.
"What are you doing?"
"You'll see."
I get down on one knee and she gasps. I pull out the ring box and open it. I can see the tears already in her eyes.
"Janie Reynolds, I love you. You're my best friend. You're my lover. I want you to become my wife. Will you do me the extraordinary honor of marrying me?"
"Yes! A thousand times yes!"
I put the ring on her finger. She throws her arms around my neck, and leans down for a kiss. I don't want to pull away, but I can't make love to her in a restaurant. It'll just have to wait until we get home. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for that. Oh well.
