Chapter Four- Not Likely, Huh?

“Okay…where are Collingwood dorms?” Bren asked me, looking around. There were tons of buildings, filled with students walking back and forth to classes or to meet friends.

“It says on the sign that they are straight up.” I told him, pointing to the arrow that was pointing to the dorm straight ahead.

“Okay. Let’s go.” He replied, warily. I could tell Bren wasn’t used to this kind of thing, and I had to admit, I wasn’t either.

The only thing different about the two of us dealing with finding my new dorm was that I was good at adapting. Bren? Well he…wasn’t.

“Hurry up!” I ordered.

“Well I’m sorry. Are you the one carrying three suitcases?” He asked me.

I gestured to my outfit and gave him a look.

At seven am this morning, Shawna burst into my room and demanded that she give me a makeover.

I was still in a morning haze and unfortunately, agreed.

And in came her whole closet, her makeup collection, and shoes that I hadn’t ever seen her wear.

When she was done, I was surprised I didn’t look like a prostitute, or anything along the lines.

I wore navy, high waisted shorts and a flowered tank top.

I wore black ballet flats and had my hair let down with a headband on my… well, head.

All in all, I liked what I was wearing. I looked like a sexy Angelina Jolie.

Okay, maybe I was exaggerating but by the way Bren did a double take when he looked at me in the morning, I knew I was at least remotely okay looking.

“Stop being lazy!” I ordered him.

I swear, this boy was so slow.

Lots of complaining and a few minutes later, we were at Collingwood dorms, which was a large building filled with people walking in or walking out.

“it says here that I have room 11-22.” I read from the letter than was emailed to me last night.

It was a day after my meeting with Headmaster Charles and as he instructed, I was settling in.

Well, figuring out how to settle in.

“Where is that?” Bren asked, looking at the paper too.

“Gee Bren, you think if I knew, I would be standing here?” I asked.

“Point taken.”

“Let’s ask someone!” I suggested.

I walked up to the office that I had noticed when I walked into the building.

The door was open and inside was a woman who looked in her twenties with long red hair, combed back and big green eyes. She was petite- short and skinny- and wore dress pants and a collared shirt that matched the school colors.

“Excuse me?” I half-whispered, knocking on the door.

The woman jumped up and walked to the door.

“Hi! May I help you?” She asked.

“Yes umm…I’m new.”

“Oooh you must be Brittany! I’m Maybel, your dorm supervisor. It’s really nice to meet you! You know we only get new students here on occasion and I get very excited when they come. You should know ahead of time that I’m a very joyous person. I like your name, by the way! Brittany…hmmm…maybe I should change my name to that. Ooooh I like it! You’re lucky, I'm more calm today…”
