I wasn't just going to show up at that nut job Lydia's doorstep, I needed to be somewhere in public, for my safety. And I knew the perfect place.

I explained to Vicky about my “hunch” that Lydia made have had some doing with Matt, plus she knew what he told me about the ex. Vicky was in on my plan to pretend I needed medical assistance and take me to the E.R., and I made her swear she would not fill in Kylie of this dangerous scheme. I would tell her when and if anything were to happen.

Vicky pinky swore with me and said excitedly, “Let's take this bitch down.”

She drove us to Lakeview Hospital and walked into the Emergency Room, where Vicky approached the Nurse's Station as I sat down, rehearsing a plan that I hadn't developed yet. I didn't even know if Lydia would be on today.

“Hi, my friend here needs to see a doctor, she has a heart condition and isn't feeling well. Her name is Addison Williams.”

“Alright, give someone a moment and we will be right with you.” The nurse kindly said.

Vicky walked over to me and took the seat to the right of mine. “Any idea what you're doing?”

“Not a clue.” I replied.

“Oh, wonderful, I love a fully developed plan.”

“Vicky, I don't need the sarcasm.”

“I'm sorry, Addison.” She bit her lip. “I'm nervous. We could get in trouble.”

“I know, you can go if you want.”

“Nope, I'm sticking with you.”

We sat in silence for a minute and the nurse Vicky spoke to approached. “Miss Williams, there is a room ready for you. Follow me.”

We did as told, walking down a little winding hallway and paused in front of the familiar little room. Another reminder of why I'm here.

“Hmmm,” I groaned.

“You don't have to disrobe, just make yourself at home. Someone will be in soon.”

“Thank you.” Vicky and I both replied.

“I plopped onto the little uncomfortable bed and laid back, staring at the popcorn ceiling. Ideas ran through my head and I questioned if we should really be doing this. And then, there it was.

I jumped up, startling my friend. “Vick, can you go find security?”

“Do you have a plan?”

“Not a full one yet, but soon enough.”

“You gonna be alright by yourself?”

“Yes, mam.”

Vicky nodded and reluctantly left the room to fulfill her duty. When the door closed behind her, I sat on the bed in deep thought of a plan, when I was disrupted a few minutes later as someone entered the room. What were the odds?

“Oh, it's you.” Lydia sounded very displeased.

“Hi, Lydia. How are you?” I kept my tone even.

“What are you in for this time?”

“Oh...well...I'm feeling lightheaded. And you know, I have that little arrhythmia.” I was really playing off this condition of mine. I honestly almost forgot I had it; I've had no problems, so if it's not broke, why fix it? But, it was the perfect excuse for my plan.

“Yeah, well, let's do the usual. Roll your sleeve up.”

Without speaking, Lydia wrapped the band around my arm and secured the velcro before she began pumping the little black ball. As she was reading my numbers, I couldn't help myself. “I saw you hiding at Matt's mass, you know.” I blurted out.
