~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Spencer Reid is rather observant, especially towards people he cares about. He makes note of little details and files them away for a later date. He knows his colleagues patterns, likes and dislikes, how fast they read, their pet peeves... he knows a lot. He doesn't try to do it a lot of the time. He just subconsciously absorbs the small details that he is privy to.
But he's not the only observant one. The rest of his colleagues, BAU profilers themselves, are good at noticing subtle changes in people. Especially in their own friends.
     Y/N had been different in the past few months. First the changes were few and far between- she would wear baggier clothes and she stopped being quite as cheerful as she had once been. Spencer passed it off as normal.
     Then she stopped eating.
     It didn't happen all at once. Slowly, Spencer and the others began to notice the signs: pushing food around a plate and cutting up it to make it look eaten, spitting into a napkin, and taking frequent bathroom breaks after eating. She had been getting progressively skinnier, and now, after three months, even her baggy clothes couldn't hide her sickly appearance.
He tried to talk to her about it, but she would always change the subject. He could see in her eyes that she was in pain, and that hurt him. If he was being honest with himself, he knew why.
He was in love with her.
     Though a man of many words, Spencer couldn't find any others to describe how he felt about Y/N. She was the light in his darkness, and he didn't want to lose her. Of course, they were only friends. He couldn't express this to her, because she didn't feel that way in return and it would only complicate things.
"Spencer?"
He blinks, looking up from a page of paperwork. "Sorry, what?"
"I was asking if everyone was done with paperwork." JJ says, looking somewhat concerned.
"How about we wrap up this paperwork and go celebrate at O'Kiefe's?" Morgan asks presently, referencing the restaurant and bar that the BAU often patronized.
"Oh.. um, I might not be able to make it. Other plans." Y/N replies.
"Yeah? Like what, mama?" He banters, shooting her a challenging stare.
Y/N's face went pale. She bit her lip. "Oh, just meeting up with a friend. I should be going, really..."
     "Come on, kid. That was your tell just then." Rossi says gently.
     Her eyes dart around, but she heaves a sigh. "Okay. I'll go."
     Cheers all around. Spencer stays quiet, though, watching Y/N. She didn't look happy, that was for sure.
