Rebound (Miles and Vanessa)

VANESSA'S POV

It's about 8 at night when Miles texts me to come over and I immediately know something is up. It's a Friday night, and at this time he's almost always out with Alya. He's my best friend so of course it hurt at first when he started completely ditching me to hang out with his girlfriend, but I've gotten used to it because I care about him, a lot. More than I should for just being his friend.

I quickly throw on a t-shirt and some jeans before walking out the door to head to Miles' house.

Once I arrive at his door, he immediately opens it without me even having to knock. He pulls me into his arms and squeezes me tight, making my lungs beg for air. Noticing how tight his grip is, he releases me and begins to walk upstairs to his room, beckoning me to follow.

I hesitantly climb up the stairs and walk into his room.

"What's up?" I ask, taking a seat on his bed.

He stays silent.

"Miles, you can tell me. I'm your best friend." I say, feeling myself break a little bit at the word "friend".

He sighs.

"Alya, she s-she, she cheated on me." He confesses.

"I'm so, so sorry. I don't know what else to say." I respond, completely in awe that someone would cheat on someone so perfect.

He nods, looking down at the ground.

"So um, what happened?" I ask.

"I went to our usual meeting spot at the coffee shop downtown, like I always do on Fridays. As I was sitting at one of the tables I saw her and some random guy stumble out of the bathroom together, and they kissed before he left."

I nod, urging him to go on.

"Then when I went up to her to confront her about it, she just acted like nothing happened. That's when I knew that I was completely done with her. I just can't believe she's so different from what I thought she was. We used to do almost everything together, and then she just cheats on me. Not even caring. That's what's hurting me the most right now." He says, tears stinging his eyes at the end.

"That absolutely sucks, oh my gosh. But how about instead of moping about Alya all night long, we just stay up here and watch movies?" I suggest.

"Sounds great." He replies, his mouth cracking the slightest of a smile.

He slips the first movie into the DVD player, and we both get more comfortable on his bed. We laugh throughout the first two movies, and it's about 11 at night when we begin watching the third one.

The movie starts off with us making sarcastic comments and jokes like we always do. About 45 minutes into it, I notice him staring at me. I look towards him and stare back with the same intensity. His hand slowly trails up my thigh, and makes its way up to my waist. His gaze seems to somehow intensify even more, making my breath catch. With both hands, he forcefully grabs my face and crashes his lips onto mine, filling my body with waves of shivers.

I don't hesitate to kiss back while snaking my arms around his neck, pulling his body close so he's pressed against me. Noticing that I've reciprocated the kiss, he pins me down and lays on top of me, not taking his lips off mine once. The sounds from the movie playing echo in my ears, but watching the movie is the last thing on my mind right now.

His lips slowly make their way down to my neck, leaving hot, wet kisses along my jawline. He begins to suck, kiss, and bite my neck, snapping me back into reality.

"Miles!" I exclaim, pushing him off of me.

"What is it? Did I do something wrong?" He asks sounding alarmed.

"We're best friends! We can't do this." I say.

"Please Vanessa, I really need this. I need to get over Alya. I need you." He pleads.

It only takes one look into his eyes and I know there's no hope. I instantly give in, and pull him back down to resume what we started. He begins kissing my neck again, and I don't even attempt to hide my moans this time.

The night continues to go on, and our clothes somehow end up all over the room, far away from our bodies.

Although this is everything I've ever wanted, I can't help thinking. Does he really like me? Or am I just a rebound?
