Rue awakened but thought she was still unconscious. She saw a vision of Lean who had appeared when Rue cried out for help. Ruby had escaped again and the town was still hexed but this time Ruechari saw a way out with Lean's guidance. Once again she would need to summon the powers she had acquired in Destiny to end the control Ruby held over everyone. There wasn't much time left.
It was not easy but she succeeded finally in breaking the hex and returning all the townspeople to normal. The town itself was a mess due to a month of neglect and as people gradually adjusted to accepting the missing time, they got to work cleaning up and continuing with what needed to be done. stannbear rallied the townspeople and in a couple of days it was clean and organized again.

The horses were a little weak, having run out of muffins and jam and were forced to survive on straw, but soon recovered when a new supply arrived. 3Gun was most concerned about Alister's deed, it was a situation that needed resolution and that wouldn't happen until Alister was found. He went to the station and sent another wire to the county Marshall. Word came back that Alister had been released and as far as they knew he was heading home.

3Gun needed to be ready to tell him about Lean and he worried about doing that and talking about the deed business. Ruechari said she did not think that once he found out, she would not be popular after the business with Lean's brother, so she and Billy made plans to track Ruby and bring her back. When the stagecoach arrived, 3Gun was in the middle of trying to compose a way to tell Alister the news and he stepped out into the street in time to see Alister step down from the coach in the company of a woman.
While in jail, Alister had gone back over his life and his relationship with his family, especially Lean. He faced up to his failings and made a silent vow to try and correct the past. When he finally arrived in Busted Gulch, he was ready to face her and he had some moral support from a very old friend, Galina Diamond.

With all this going on a couple of rumours surfaced. One about the addition of a horse farm to the Gulch. It was suggested that the property out behind Lean's old home would be a perfect site. How this would match up with the possibility of a new gold mine on the same land was yet to be determined. The second was about increasing the hotel business by providing accommodation for the expected card players when it was announced that Fish gambling would return to the saloon.

The town council posted a large printed layout of the town in the lobby of the Town Hall, to show pride in the expansion of what was once just a miner's tent city.
