Prompt: "Your friend set you up on a blind date and I happened to be eating alone so you thought you were meeting me and you were cute so I went along with it but you just got a text from said friend that they're sorry your date stood you up and now I have some explaining to do."

John was sitting in a booth at a small café- "The Place to Be." Peggy was supposed to meet him so they could finish their art project, but she cancelled at the last minute. By cancelled, John meant she ditched when he was already there. He saw no sense in going home, so he decided to stay and do some sketching. As he took a sip of his coffee, a young man walked up.

"H-hey, I'm Alexander Hamilton, are you the person I'm supposed to meet for the blind date?"

John wanted to reply, but his brain wouldn't form coherent words. Being too gay to function, he cleared his throat and said:

"Uh, yeah."

He mentally slapped himself for lying, but the stranger was just too cute. Besides, maybe it was fate that this Alexander character came up to him.

Alexander smiled in reply and sat down.

"Don't worry, I'm nervous too, Lafayette didn't say you would be this attractive."

John blushed, but began to worry about being caught in his bluff.

"What's your name?"

"John. John Laurens."

Alexander and John talked for a while. John found out he was majoring pre-law, but still had a big affinity for art. John was shocked that he liked Assemblage art as much as he did, and began to think that it really was destiny for them to meet.

"I listen to a lot of different music," He said "But at the moment I've been listening to Panic! At the Disco."

John showed him the band wristband he had on, and Alex smiled.

"This is going better than I anticipated." Alexander said.

John felt a ping of guilt. Maybe it was time to confess.

"Okay, I'm sorry, but I don't know how to say this," John began to say "I'm not like a crazy sociopath or anything, but basically I'm not the actual person you were supposed to meet and I have no idea who Lafayette is and please don't hate-"

John was cut off by Alexander's laughter.

"I know." He said.

"You do?" John replied, confused.

"Lafayette texted me a while ago saying my date couldn't show up."

John buried his face in his hands in embarrassment.

"I'm so sorry you were just there and suddenly we were taking and I don't know." He rambled.

"It's fine," Alex said with a smirk while standing up "I had a good time today, even if you're technically not my date."

"Give me a call sometime Laurens." Alexander winked, handed John a slip of paper with a number on it, and confidently walked away.

John just sat there, still feeling the embarrassment and looked down at the number.

Why do I feel so helpless? He thought, shaking his head.
