John POV
*Weeks before*

"You. Need. To. Get. Up." Hercules demanded.

I groaned a plea for more time and turned on my side.

"The king wants you fitted by a tailor soon and you haven't even eaten breakfast."

"What for?" I grumbled, "We don't go out anyway!"

Hercules shrugged but still began to persist, so I rolled out of bed and into the bathroom.

"You have to get fitted, then talk to the diplomats and-"

I groaned to drown him out. "I hate this; can't just lie in bed all day?"

"I'm sure there's some starving peasants who would love to be in your position." I didn't appreciate his sarcasm, but that doesn't mean he wasn't right.

"Your father wants to address the people fairly soon, which is what I guess your being fitted for." He said as I tied my hair up into a bun.

"Whaattt?" I said dramatically, "You mean actually go out and see our people? Unprecedented!"

I could tell Herc didn't appreciate my sarcasm too.

"You need to hurry up." He said, pointing to his watch.

I ran to get dressed. "Royal guard more like royal pain in the ass." I muttered.

"I heard that!" He shouted.

There used to be royal servants and guards swarming me whenever I did anything, but I eventually managed to shoo them away (or out run em). My dad got the hint and now Hercules is the only one around me. I get dressed in some slacks and a long sleeved shirt, then navigate my way downstairs.

"Grab something and then we need to go." Hercules told me.

I grabbed some bread and milk, then I reluctantly went for the fitting.
----------------
The fitting was 2 hours of complaining and Herc trying to pacify me. It seemed liked centuries until I was finally free. I apparently have some down time until the whole diplomat thing, so we were heading back to the palace.

"You sure I can't just skip the diplomacy stuff?" I asked, practically begging.

"Why?" Herc replied, "What else could you do today anyway?"

I looked around to make sure there was no one nearby. "I want to go out." I whispered.

"Like, out-out? Into the kingdom?" He whispered back.

"Yes! I want to go out and meet people and explore the to-"

"Absolutely not," He interrupted me, "Do you know how enraged your father would be if he found out?"

"Then lets make sure he doesn't." I said, "Please Herc you got to help me, I have to do this."

Even when we were in the public eye, we were never allowed to go and talk to the citizens, walk their streets, see how they live their lives -and that's what I want to do.

"Okay whatever, I'll help you." He said rolling his eyes. He knew he wouldn't be able to win this argument.

All of a sudden we heard a thump from behind us.
