Every child fears of the bed or the closet or that dark corner in their room.
Scientists know that children are more perceptive. They see things adults don't. They aren't tethered into only accepting what society wants them to accept. They see what's truly there.
They see monsters.
If you were able to borrow a child's eyes and see through them for a night, you would go insane. To be able to see what you only dimly remember burrowed under your covers to avoid the thing. If you can't see it, it can't see you.
Don't make a noise. Every noise you make can lead you closer to death. Don't move. It attracts their attention. Only light makes them go away. Bright light. Flashlights make them angry.
Teens are caught in the middle. They know what's out there but they are pressured by society. We forget the rules.
