Lucas's POV:"I miss you." The blonde beauty says to me through the phone.
Every night we FaceTime.
Ever since I left New York.
My grandma died, and Poppy Joe needed someone to be there for him.
So, I moved back here to Texas. My mom is still in New York.
I didn't want her to have to quit her job.
So she came and stayed in Texas for two weeks and then went back.
It's been 3 months since I moved back to Texas.
"I know. I miss you too. But don't worry, we'll see each other again someday." I try to reassure her.
She sighs. "But that isn't soon, is it?" She asks, a sad look on her face.
I wish.
"I don't know. But I wish it was, princess." I say with a sigh, running my hand through my hair.
I hear Maya's mom call for her in the background.
"One second!" She calls back.
"I'm sorry, but I have to go." She says with a frown.
"Ey, don't frown beautiful. Come on, show me that pretty smile." I say, causing her to giggle and a smile to appear on her face. "There it is."
Gosh, she is so beautiful.
"Shut it, huckleberry." She says, giggling.
"I love you. I'll call you tomorrow, okay?" I say as she smiles and nods.
"I love you too, Ranger Rick. See ya tomorrow. Goodnight."
"Sweet dreams, princess." Are the last words I say before we end the call.
I place my phone down on the nightstand and lay back down on my bed. I close my eyes.
If only there were a way I could see her again, in person.
I'd give anything to be able to hold her in my arms, to kiss her soft lips, to hold her small hand, to be with her.
Long distance is extremely hard.
She understood why I had to leave, but that didn't make it easier for us to have to be apart.
I love Texas.
But New York is my home.
Maya is my home.
When I'm with her, I feel complete.
But now, I feel empty, like a part of me is missing.
Poppy joe suddenly walks into my bedroom and places a plane ticket on my bed. "Thank you for helping me. Now you get back to Maya. Tell her I said, hello. And that she's apart of our family. Your flight leaves in the morning." He says with a smile.
I jump up off of my bed and hug him.
"Thank you!"
"Of course, son."
He leaves my room and I start packing.
*the next day*
I just got off of my plane.
Finally, I'm back home.
I drop my bags off at my house and hug my mom before rushing over to Maya's.
Since it's a Sunday, she should be home.
I knock on the door.
Katy answers. She gives me a shocked, but happy smile before embracing me in a hug. "Lucas, what are you doing here?" She asks happily. I smile and put my finger up to my mouth, signaling for her to whisper.
She mumbles a sorry and giggles. She steps out onto the porch and closes the door.
"I came to surprise, Maya. I moved back to New York." I say with a big smile.
She smiles and nods. "She's in her room drawing." She says opening the door once again, letting me in.
I smile and nod. "Thank you." I whisper.
I knock on her door.
"Come in." I hear her angelic voice say from beyond the door.
I open the door and step inside, closing the door behind me.
Her back is facing me, her hair pulled into a messy bun on the top of her head. She's painting a picture of a field full of beautiful flowers.
She hasn't looked at me yet.
"That is beautiful. Just you like you." I say, smiling.
She gasps and turns around.
"Lucas?!" She puts down her paint and paint brush before running into my arms, tears are rolling down her cheeks.
"Hello beautiful." I say with a smile. I press my lips against hers, both of us smiling into the kiss.
"I missed you so much!" She says, crying, but smiling. I wipe away her tears.
"I missed you too. I'm never going to leave you again, I promise. I love you, Maya."
"I love you too, huckleberry." She says, kissing me again.
