Riley's POV:

At Topanga's

"Riley, you should tell him." Maya whispers in my ear.

I sigh, "Fine."

"Hey Farkle, can I talk to you outside for a second?" I ask the blue eyed boy. He smiles and nods. "Yeah, sure."

He stands up from the couch he was sitting on, setting his drink down on the table.

Lucas and Maya give me a smile and a thumbs up, I roll my eyes.

We walk out of the small cafe and sit down on the bench outside. "So what did you want to talk about?" Farkle asks.

I play with my hands nervously, "Well, I um, I wanted to tell you something." I mutter.

"Okay, what is it?"

"I-I like you. Not just as a friend, but more." I tell him. "I've liked you for a long time, a few years actually and I've tried to get over it, but for some reason I can't."

I look up at his face to try and find a sign that tells me he feels the same way, but his expression is sad.

He sighs, "I'm sorry, Riley but I don't feel that way about you. I like someone else. I hope that this doesn't change or hurt the friendship we have in any way. I'm sorry." He says, his words crushing my heart into a trillion pieces.

My eyes start to burn, the tears threatening to fall. I blink them away.

"Oh... no it's okay. Yeah, no change whatsoever. Who's the girl?" I ask.

"Isadora." His eyes light up and a hint of a smile plays on his lips when he says her name.

"Oh okay. You-you should tell her how you feel. She likes you too. She told me a few weeks ago that she does." I say, pushing my hair behind my ears.

"She does? That's great! I'll go call her. Thank you, riles. And again, I'm sorry that I don't feel the same way you do for me." He says.

I shrug, "It's okay. It's no big deal. It's just a dumb crush. I'll get over it." I give him a fake smile. He smiles and nods before pulling me into a hug.

We pull away from the hug. "Okay, well I'll let you call Smackle." I say standing up.

"Okay, thanks." He pulls out his phone and starts dialing a number.

I walk inside, and sit down in between Maya and Lucas.

Maya and Lucas look at me expectantly, waiting for me to tell them what happened.

"He... he doesn't feel the same way." I say before breaking down in tears.

"Oh pumpkin." Maya whispers before pulling mine into her arms. I wrap my arms around her tightly, her shoulder muffling my sobs.

Lucas wraps his arms around me and Maya. "It's okay, Riles. You'll be okay." He tries to reassure me but it doesn't work.

I sit up, breaking up the hug and wipe away my tears. "No it won't. I love him. But he likes her. How do you just stop loving someone?" I ask them.

Maya pushes my hair behind my ear, her hand lingering on my cheek. "You don't. You just have to learn how to live with the pain of knowing that they don't feel the same way." I see a hint of hurt in her eyes.

She's referring to Josh, my uncle. She loved him for a long time and a part of her still does, but she is with Lucas now. She loves him more than anyone.

I grab her hand and nod, knowing that she is right.

Farkle doesn't see me the way I see him.

He doesn't love me like I do him.

To him, I'm just his best friend.

Nothing more.
