I heard my voice being said across the room. I look around to see who was talking. It was Damien.
"Lillie! Hey, come here!" He waves over to me from the booth across my table.
"Okay." I nod then, I get up and walk over. I see the table with Damien, Jenna, Janson & Smith. They look happy to see me.
"What's up with you guys?" I say looking hesitant at Damien.
"Are you singing tonight?" Jenna asks.
"Yeah, why?" I reply.
"Well, we brought our band. I was wondering if you wanted to sing with us too tonight." Janson says.
"Alright." I say.
As I walk away, I hear Damien say,
"Lillie." I turn around.
"What?" I ask.
"Smile more, it wouldn't kill you." He smiles at me.
I give a nod and then, I fake smile like an idiot to try to please everyone sitting at the booth.
"That's better." He laughs. I smile and go sit back at my table.
"What was that about?" Karly asks.
"Damien wanted to talk to me." I say looking down at my menu.
The waitress comes by and takes our order.
Liv says hers and Karly says hers.
I say mine, as well.
"Noah's here!" Liv squeals.
"Hey." Noah walks up to Liv.
"So, you start your shift?" She asks.
"In ten minutes. I gotta get ready I'll see you guys when I'm out in the bar tending area." He says as he kisses Liv on he cheek.
"I love you." He says.
"I love you too." She smiles.
He walks away with blushed cheeks.
She smiles and looks at me.
"When are you going to get a man, Lillie?"
"I don't know. When I stop being self centered." I grin at her.
"Oh, whatever." She laughs.
"Don't worry. Maybe she'll find her soul mate tonight." Karly grins. I laugh.
"Sooooo excited." I giggle.
"Yep." She says.
The waiter brings our food and beverages.
"Here you go, ladies." She hands us our food.
"Thank you, Lynns." Liv smiles. Liv was used to knowing the staff of Danny's shop. Her boyfriend has worked with Danny since he opened it up. I felt a rush of unsettlement as I see my first love walk in the door.
"Lillie, get over him." Liv grabs my hand.
I snap back to look at her.
"Yeah." I say.
"He was never worth your time. He only wasted it and at least you learned a very valuable life lesson." Karly says sipping her coffee.
"You're right." I say taking a bite out of my bagel.
Who's that girl with him?
I start to question myself.
"Lillie, snap out of it." Karly says.
"Fine." I reply.
I look back at my coffee and stir it with a straw.
He really doesn't care about me anymore.
I am completely okay with that.
I guess.
Okay, I'm really not.
Fuck.
The night becomes present and people start to walk on stage.
I hear people state their poems and stories and small bands preform. While the music was filling my ears, Liv got up to go talk to Noah and I was thinking I should follow. So did Karly.
"Mhm. You look really cute in that uniform." Liv laughs at Noah.
"What uniform? I always wear this." He laughs back.
"I don't know, but you look very handsome." She grins.
"Lillie, we'll be right back." Noah says and looks back at Liv. There was a silence between them for a second and it was awkward for me.
"Um, okay." I say. I knew what they were doing but, I guess Dan understood that they needed their privacy.
20 minutes later, they came out.
"How was it?" I laugh.
"Ugh. I'm glad I'm with that man." She says, catching her breath.
"Hm." I say.
"Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen. I'd like to present a wonderful newcomer to our little café tonight. He'll be preforming a song for you, so we should give the new guy some respect." Smith grins as he stands on stage and and the light shines on the middle of the stage. I paid attention to see who joined. I love meeting new people so, maybe this'll be a good thing.

In a Café
