I run over and try to peek over Thomas' shoulder to see what it was. He's so freaking tall it's practically impossible to see though. James came behind Thomas and took the papers from him and started to read over them. "Well damn, looks like we have some more work to do hm?" He said softly and looked at the poofy haired man. Thomas grumbled and grabbed a notebook and a pen. I huffed and slipped the papers from James quickly. "Thank you~" I smirked, scanning over them.
Yada yada yada Cabinet Meeting moved to tomorrow at 5 yada yada yada...
I huffed. "Well then. What's this Cabinet Meeting really about? The Philippine issue can't be it cause I'm pretty sure they went over that and you were testing me, weren't you Velvet?" I looked at Thomas, who glared at me as soon as I called him Velvet. I wore a smug grin on my face. He crossed his arms. "1. Don't call me that. 2. Yes I was." He huffed. I leaned on the wall. "You responded didn't you?" I crossed my arms as well. He only grunted in response.
There was yet another knock at the door. I heard James curse something under his breath before opening the door. An average height black man stood, nicely dressed and with more papers in his hands. "You will not believe what I found, this fixes everything." He said. James let the man in. Thomas walked over and looked at the papers. "Whats this?"
"Bank records." The man replied.
"Okay?"
"And court records, I don't know how he pulled this off."
James stood, reading the papers.
"Dear sir, I hope this email finds you in good health and in a prosperous enough position to put wealth in the pockets of people like me down on their luck. You see, that was my wife who you decided to---"
"WHAT?!" Thomas stared at it. "Aaron how'd you dig this stuff up?!"
Aaron shrugged. "You said to get some dirt on him and I found it."
"I can't take him down from inside the Cabinet.."
"You've gotta do this one meeting Thomas." James suggested
"Yea yea I will but now we have Hamilton's misdeed in writing.."
"As long as he can hold a pen he's a threat." Aaron put the papers on the table
Am I invisible to these chumps?!
"Hey!" I slammed my palm on the counter. "You're telling me you're so low and cold-hearted you would use someone's mistake to get rid of their job?! Think about their family!" I barked. Thomas kind of just stared at me, his face starting to turn a little red. Aaron looked at me, a certain glint of determination in his eyes. "You have no idea who he is and what he's done to us." He said calmly but at the same time it was harsh.
A thought- a memory- suddenly flashed into my head.
An older boy stood, towering over my father. The boy had his hand up, raised to hit him, other boys behind him cheering. I raced quickly in front of my father before he could be hit, I instead, getting punched across the face, stumbling backwards.
There were gasps and mostly everything had gone quiet as I felt where I'd been hit.
I felt my father try to pull me away but I didn't budge. "Who the hell do you think you are, trying to hit him like that?!" I barked fiercely at the boy. He let out a grunt in response, ignoring my questions and putting a big, rugged hand on my shoulder. "Move aside Princess." He pushed me and balled his fist up. I rolled my sleeves up and kicked his shin as hard as I possibly could. "Two things. Don't call me Princess and leave him alone or else!" I threatened, grabbing my fathers hand, who squeezed my own hand. "Go on home Y/N.." He whispered softly. I only shook my head and stayed in place.
The boy got up. "You have no idea who he is and what he's done to us!" The boy barked. I huffed and puffed my cheeks out. "He's my father dumbass! He's done nothing to you!"
I shake my head, ending the memory, trying not to let tears well up in my eyes. "I don't care who he is and what he's done to you. Revenge is wrong!" I growled. Thomas seemed taken back by my response to this matter. Aaron crossed his arms, grumbling. James nodded slightly and crossed his arms. "I guess, I think she's right."
Of course I'm right.
"Hamilton's misdeed is not to be used against him then." Thomas stated
